Let's take a ride in my Volts Wagon!

Okay, here is one for Wes Craven's Shocker. It features songs by Iggy Pop, Megadeth, and, uh...The Dudes of Wrath. Apparently some kinda "super" group featuring Paul Stanley, half of Whitesnake, and Tommy Lee on drums. Not bad once you stop rolling on the ground laughing at the name, brush yourself off and actually give it a listen. This is a decent collection of decent rock songs. Well, apart from Megadeth's "No More Mr Nice Guy." Swing and a miss on that one.

Anyway, Shocker was almost pretty good. Through 90% of the movie it's played pretty straight, but completely loses it in the last 10 minutes once all the electricity traveling bullshit starts. But I think the reason this never had a shot at a franchise (well besides the fact that it's not very good) is the killer's name. Horace Pinker. Wasn't that "Fat Kid" in The Monster Squads' full name? It just doesn't have a good ring to it. Look at the classic 80's movie killer names, Freddy Krueger. Jason Vorhees. Horace Pinker. It's just a stupid name no matter how you look at it. I mean sure the guy was huge and frightening, but I don't care how menacing your physical appearance may be, no one is taking you seriously when your name is Horace Pinker. Well, until you kill them I guess. Maybe that was his angle. Who the hell knows?
