The Bastards Have Landed

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com
Okay, sorry to give the impression Bad Taste might be here. I was just looking at my older stuff, a great deal of it has been deleted from Rapidshare due to "complaints." By "The Bastards" in the title, I mean the people who report people's links for no reason whatsoever and get them deleted. We've all gotten the message sometime or another. The dreaded message we've all seen when we see something we really want to download but can't because: "This File is Forbidden to be Shared. There were complaints." I don't know what that means, not sure who is bitching about me having the 15+year out of print Burbs soundtrack available for free, but someone is I guess. Maybe people selling copies (some of which have to be bootlegs, since they only made 2,500 copies) for $100 on Ebay are angry, I don't know.

Anyway I've got a good 20 or so to reupload, both Gremlins, TCM, Shaun of the Dead, etc. Probably much more than that, my Rapidshare links list is looking pretty small today, so if you try downloading something and it won't work let me know, I should have all of the files still ready for reuploading. I'll be doing a few a day as I find them on my computer, so if you have one you need I can put it ahead of the others.

I have a Rapidshare account, hence all the Rapidshare use, but I don't know, I never see other sites have great deals of "complaints". But I don't have the time to upload to more than one site, I guess I'll have to use Megaupload for these. Anyone know how long files stay on Megaupload?

as the saying goes "don't let the bastards grind you down"...shame we can't complain about them & get them deleted.

I wondered when the greedy bastards would show up.

People have a right to make an honest living, but selling CD-R's for inflated prices isn't honest.

Why should our loved composers be supporting a bunch of lazy turds?
Particularly when those composers aren't seeing a dime of it.

Grrrr!

If you could re-up Ennio Morricone - Four Flies on Grey Velvet, that would be wonderful. Thanks. Great blog!

Thanks for all your time and effort! As a newb to all the soundtrack blogs, it really is fantastic to see all the contributions/posts of great oop soundtracks. Sure it is annoying to come across a rapidshare deletion once and awhile, but the frustration is overshadowed by just all the other offerings that are still there. I find it more frustrating to happen upon a great site and pour through its backlog of posts, only to find alot of the submissions to rapidshare deleted because of inactivity/time.

Anyways, thanks for the great posts!

Yeah, don't worry, I won't let them get me down. I have no plans of going anywhere any time soon. It sucks having to reupload everything though. I'll probably just sort of do it one a reupload a time when someone needs one. So let me know if there's one you need.

I'll put a new link up on the Four Flies post again tonight or tomorrow. So far I've put new Tenebre and Phenomena links up, so grab those while you can.

Don't let the bastards get you down. They have been attacking other sites, a number of which have shut down as a result -- much to the sorrow of their frequent visitors.

As a Rapidshare Premium accountholder myself -- using Rapidget to download a bunch of files at a time -- it is definitely worth the expense. I used to have to go through the one-hour wait between downloads, so I understand downloaders' complaints and desires that the files be moved to a "friendlier" service, but once I got a premium account, I've had no complaints ... except, of course, when the bastards have gotten there before me and Rapidshare deleted the files.

Some sites have gone so far as to heavily disguise and shield their files, sending downloaders first to one .zip file, then to another .rar file, before finally getting a link to the real thing. Others have begun uploading files to several servers at a time, which I would imagine has kept their sharity available for a longer period of time.

Thank you for your efforts, by the way. You and the other soundtrack sites have been fulfilling wishes I'd never dared to make because I "knew" they were impossible. So let me just say again: Don't let the bastards get you down.

Your efforts are appreciated - thanks for doing what you can.

If you get the chance to re-up The Shining and Prince of Darkness, that would be very cool.

Yeah - it's been going around. Even my little bloggy is being hunted! (Poor me, poor you!)

Keep up the good fight. I'm right there with ya :)

May I echo the first comment - don't let the bastards get you down. I visit this blog every day and I really appreciate the music you are sharing.

I do not loot from these blogs and sell to anyone. I may pass them off to friends who might be looking for that particular piece of music, but would never ask anyone to pay for the good stuff that all you people do. Thank You, and everyone of the others that share the music that some of so desperately want!

Love your blog, sorry to hear the complainers have landed on it! Megaupload keeps files until 30 days have passed with no download. But it's smart NOT to name the uploads with the real album titles. For example, upload Nightmare On Elm Street Soundtrack, but name the archive/zip/rar NOEST or similar. Hope that helps!

This problems involved a lot of good blogs like yours, see the comments about this at Monone's library blog or at oopswhoops blogspot to have an idea of the discussion.
My suggestions are:
1)password encryption with the option to hide content too in winrar;
2)an above suspicion name for archives;
3)a link protection service like
http://lix.in/
4)last but not least, try this free hosting site, it's really better:
Rogepost
File Size Limit: 1 GB
Downloads & Uploads Limit: Unlimited
File Life: 100 Days (Deleted only if there is no download activity in 100 days)
URL: http://www.rogepost.com/

If you could re-up the Goblin score for Contamination. I would be hugely grateful.

I'm with anonymous as far as Rapidshare goes.

And I'm with the *other* anonymous when they say, "don't let the bastards grind you down!"

All your effort is much appreciated!

Speaking as someone who also recently just discovered these great soundtrack blogs, I echo the appreciation of those above. In the short time I've used Rapidshare (about 2 months) it seems like things have started to turn for the worse, as far as the deletions go. Anyway, great job and many thanks.

i would try using amasking site to hide your urls as well as perhaps using messed up names so no one can do a search with keywords.

i love this blog and appreciate your hardwork. i have filled the gaps in my collection and really do thank you for your work.

for the money though i really like rapidshare. it's rather easy to use and fast.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I'm glad to know I'm occasionally making someone's day by posting something they've been looking for forever. I've reuploaded a couple of the requested soundtracks, if you've requested one that's not up yet check back over the next few days, once I locate them I will repost them.

I think I'll try using anonym.to or I'll have to resort to passwords and try and keep using Rapidshare sometimes, since I personally do find downloading to be pretty fast, I can get 90 MB files downloaded in like 7 minutes most of the time. I'll try the next few that way and see how it goes. But I guess Megaupload or Sendspace will have to do most of the time. When I put them up on Megaupload be sure to tell everyone you know to download them so they don't expire too quickly.

Check back today though, I'll be posting something new, not sure what yet. Also about time for another MST3K either today or tomorrow.

I had a few hard to find bootleg score that were asked to be removed by Opera recently.
Same is happening with high dollar library lp's. I guess the ebay hacks are getting upset they cant get that 500% profit.
Keep on doing ya thing.

First off, love the site and the post.

Second, I'd love it if you chose something besides Rapidshare. I hate the download limits.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the music! Was wondering if Prince Of Darkness, Lucio Fulci's Requiem In Blood, The Shining and Fright Night could be put up again?

phelpster said...

The Shining is back up, unless I forgot to actually change it after uploading it. I found the disc with pretty much all the deleted ones so I should get a lot back up over the next few days.

Are most of you okay with Megaupload or is there something better? Filesend, or Sendspace maybe? I don't know much about the non-Rapid sites really.

Dave S. said...

Megaupload is okay, but it doesn't like non-Americans. There's limited download slots for foreigners, just like me. I use the Firefox user agent trick, though, so it's not so bad.

I'm currently testing out FileSend. It doesn't seem that bad yet. I'll keep in touch and let you know how that goes.

The Bastards must have something to gain from going thru the trouble of having your posts deleted. I doubt anyone is paying them to go around and do that.

I recomend trying to find where your albums have been reposted and rebranded which shouldnt be hard to find the same unique lineup.

Might run into some bastard who has reuploaded to their own RS Account.

I would love to see Psycho II back up for grabs, another Goldsmith classic. It's been BANNED, unfortunately.
