Thomas Dolby - Gothic

I hope everyone had a happy Curtis Armstrong Day. I didn't have time this year, but I gonna try and have some shirts made next year. So check back here in like 330 days or so, I'll start taking orders early so you can be wearing your shirts next November 27th.

Today I'm going with Thomas Dolby's (yes, this guy) music from the Ken Russell film Gothic, starring Gabriel Byrne and Julian Sands. Julian Sands has had a good balance of starring in poorly received films then jumping into a role in classy high quality films. For example he'll be in stuff like Warlock or Boxing Helena (I think we can go with "unmitigated crap" over "poorly received film" for Boxing Helena, judging by how harsh the critics were on it), then he'll show up in an Oscar winning film like The Killing Fields or Leaving Las Vegas. It's a gift he has. He should share it with Sylvester Stallone, he's got a nearly decade-long crap streak going. Poor guy, hope Rocky 6 can turn that around for him.

Anyway, not sure how I got onto Rocky. Sorry, I ramble from time to time, if you haven't noticed. I thought I saw this one somewhere a few months back, but my search didn't turn anything up. So, you can download this spooky, weird little album below.

Here's the tracklist. I could only find it on Soundtrack Collector and this is how it was layed out. But each seperate title is a seperate track, there are 26 total tracks, not 2.

1. (Part One) (18:14)
Fantasmagoria--Byronic Love--Shelleymania--Mary's Theme--Party Games--Gipsygirl--The Crucifix--The Fundamental Source--Sin and Buggery--Impalement--Skullpulse--Leechjuice--Restless Sleep 1, 2 & 3--It's His!
2. (Part Two) (25:44)
A Trickle of Blood--Coitus Per Stigmata--Once We Vowed Eternal Love--Riddled With Guilt--Metamorphosis--The Hangman--The Beast in the Crypt--The Final Seance--Funeral by the Lake--No Ghosts in the Daylight--To The Grave--The Devil is an Englishman

Conjure up your deepest, darkest fear...

Oh, and speaking of The Killing Fields, check back tomorrow, that will most likely be my next post.

Thanks very much, I love Gothic - but then again I love most of Russell's films!

oh yes, boxing helena is truly awful.

thanks for the soundtrack. i've had a soft spot for mr. dolby ever since i found 'she blinded me with science' on the soundtrack of my freshman year in college, though i actually preferred moody songs like 'flying north' or 'one of our submarines'. damn--that was half a lifetime ago.

did you know he played behind foreigner? i always thought that was bizarre. i had forgotten about him, but i recently discovered he has a website with a blog.... http://www.thomasdolby.com/

Wow! Can you repost the wonderful Gothic soundtrack? I wish I had something as good or rare to share. Hmmm, Nineteen Eighty-Four the Music of Oceania Soundtrack by Dominic Muldowney is about as close as I can come. Most remember the soundtrack by the Eurythmics, but this was the original score. Let me know... Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this!

One tiny complaint: The RAR file contains the tracks *and* another RAR file that also contains the exact same tracks. But still totally worth the download time.
