Okay, things are moving along fairly smoothly on this process. However, I need a little help, I asked this last time I started messing with things, so sorry to ask again. I've checked the site using Opera and Firefox and the new layout looks perfect. However, pesky IE has all of my links and my profile way the hell at the bottom of the page and there is a large random white box all the way down the side of the post area. So I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know if they are seeing any kinda problems like that, because I am about to lose my freakin' mind. I cannot get the damn thing to work right. If someone out there knows a bit more HTML than I do could maybe give me a hint at what section that would even be a part of for me to try and fix it, that would be more awesome than anything that was ever awesome. I know, everyone will be on New Blogger soon so this is probably dumb, but I just don't want to do it yet. Plus I think it might change my site's link or something, then I gotta make everyone linking to me do work, and that's no fun.
So, I've changed the appearance and as you'll notice when you go to leave a comment I had to put up the "Security" function on the comments. You know, the little random wavy green or red letters you enter into a box when you leave a comment. I've always wondered how that reallys helps keep things secure, but we'll see. The reason being that in the first 10 minutes of fixing the site up I received 2 advertisment comments. It's getting ridiculous and I fart in the general direction of people who leave these comments. If I could I would personally have Vincent Gallo put a hex on each of their colons. So, like I mentioned a couple weeks back when I was considering the security function, I hope this doesn't stop people from leaving legitimate comments, because I rather enjoy the comment part of the site. Sorry to have to put that up, I'll try and lose it later, hopefully the comment attackers will go away.
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, all that stuff. I hope everyone has a wicked good time whatever particular holiday they happen to celebrate. Here's a rejected banner I made for the Morgue. Made by me and ultimately rejected by me, but here it is anyway.

I don't have any advice to help you on (I only use Multiply, so my knowledge of Opera is nil) but I would like to encourage you not to get frustrated and give up on this blogsite. Way too many blogs are closing down recently, very good blogs that I already miss, and yours ranks up there, in record time, as one of the best. I hope someone here can help you iron out the problems and I'm sorry that I can't be any help.
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere any time soon. I still like doing the site and if I get too frustrated I have my old template HTML saved so I can just go back to that if I can't fix the weird problem. Or I will just switch over to the new version. But I still love having a site that, while not a ton, some people seem to really enjoy. I have business cards even and I thought about making shirts at one point even.
Apart from changing my layout being a colossal pain in the ass and those pesky ad comments, I have no complaints. Thanks for the encouragement and the kind words. It means alot.
Man, I gave up trying to figure out IE years ago. I could never get anything to look right.
The new look is shaping up nicely, though!
Thanks, glad you're liking the new look. I wanna just say screw it and leave it how it is, but according to my Site Meter like 50% of my visitors use IE. I'm really picky about stuff I design, I don't like something I do looking weird or bad because for some reason I worry about it. I don't know, I guess I worry that people will think I either totally suck at designing or that I just don't care about the site or it's appearance. As of right now, the line isn't too terrible, so I guess I'll live with it for now.
I got the new banner, links and site meter up so that's pretty much all I needed to do. Just gotta wait around and hope someone can offer a fix to the weird line.
I've fixed it. :)
Open the source and look for this part:
@media all {
#content {
width:740px;
margin:0 auto;
text-align:left;
}
Increase the width value to something larger. I tried it with 750px and it looked fine; the only issue is that the header and footer images need to be modified a bit, because you get a small... well, red line on the right. This is a stupid issue with IE, but eh, it's IE!
Hope that helps. :)
Dave S. - Thanks so much for the help! I was sorta skipping past that part when I tried to fix it. I tried what you suggested and once I got it as close as I could get it I decided it was close enough. On Opera and Firefox it still looks perfectly fine, now on IE there's still a white line, but it's narrow enough for my profile to fit and that's about as good as I need it to be.
I also had to go below that part and adjust the text percentage to 78%, even 79% was too much, so sadly times where I've used "Tiny" font are pretty small, but I don't think it's unreadable. At least I hope not. Thanks again for your help
No problem. Glad to be of help!
I wish I had your dedication. My own music share blog died a fiery death. :p
Please enlarge the font just a little bit at least! My vision isn't what it used to be now that I am of advancing age. I know I can enlarge it through the browser but it gets tiresome considering the amount of times I visit. Please think about this.
Yeah sorry about that, I'm going to try and make it larger. I have a couple little problems I still need to fix up, just HTML is such a pain in the ass to adjust I can only do so much at once without going mad.
Okay, I've tried to fix it up some, is it still too small or is it okay now? Let me know if it's still too small, I'll try and figure something else out.
It's still pretty small. What's the font size you're using?
For my posts I usually use "Normal" for the description and "Small" for the tracklist. The HTML for this template is kinda complicated for me, I have the font size at 93% for the sidebar and the main box. If I do 94% the sidebar shoots down to the bottom. And even if I just make the width smaller on either it just makes the mysterious white line wider. So I can't really get it any bigger without screwing it back up. I might have to switch over to New Blogger afterall, even though I do like this new template alot, I've spent a couple hours just changing things to get it all to fit. I guess I can edit the posts to have the "Large" font, but there are like 220 posts, so that would take quite a while.
