House of Hammer

I want to apologize for the severe lack of updates I've had here lately. Between a lack of much new music to upload, a bad legitimate appreciative reader post/Japanese porno-spam post ratio (about 4 spam comments for 1 real comment) and a general lack of interest in doing...well...just about anything really, it's been hard for me to get around to posting as much as usual. I've felt kind of off for the past couple of months, not quite sure why really, but I'm going to try and snap out of my weird funk and get back into things. I will at least try and get up more than one post a week.

So, here are the first seven (7) issues of The House of Hammer, Hammer Film Production's very own magazine. Part Creepy style comics, part Famous Monsters style articles/movie reviews - all based on Hammer films. Well, mostly, Vinnie Price and Bruce from Jaws both appear on covers later on in the series, so they do mix it up a bit.

These were found on Demonoid, can't remember the name of the uploader/scanner, but obviously huge thanks to them, without whom this post would not be possible.

I actually can't find much info on this series, a lot on the Hammer House of Horror television series, not a lot on the magazine. I did find this page, on a very cool site called Monster Magazines (which is regrettably shutting down soon it seems). I believe I have the entire run, which was 30 issues, if I'm not mistaken. So, leave a comment if you enjoy House of Hammer, and I can get the rest up here soon.

Stop! Hammer Time (Too obvious?)

Jason vs. Leatherface

This is Topps Comics' (you know, the baseball card/stale chewing gum people) 3-issue miniseries Jason vs. Leatherface. In one corner the Chainsawing Cannibal Bubba Sawyer. In the other corner, the Mongloid Marauder Jason Vorhees. Who will survive and what will be left of him? You'll have to read and find out.

Each of the 3 issues features an incredible cover by Simon Bisley with interior art by Jeff Butler. Nancy Collins is credited as the writer. Thanks to the original scanner of these issues for the scanning of these issues.

For even more Jason and Leatherface fun, be sure to check out some of the fan made stuff on YouTube. Apparently, if you know two tall fat guys, live near the woods and own a hockey mask from the 70s and a chainsaw you can make your very own Jason vs. Leatherface movie.

Uncle Buck

This is the soundtrack from John Hughes' 1989 film Uncle Buck, starring John Candy and that chick who plays the better looking mom on Yes, Dear. I was inspired to track down the music while watching it yesterday as part of my week long John Hughes memorial marathon (1 Hughes written and/or directed film a day for seven days). Friday was Weird Science, Saturday was Buck, and today was Ferris. In fact Yello's Oh Yeah from the end credits of Ferris Beuller is currently playing in the background as I write this and driving the shit out of me. Always hated that music.

In my opinion Buck is one of the better of Hughes' films, although I think Buck would've been arrested numerous times during the week he spends with the kids. You can't just go around beating up alcoholic clowns and stuffing duct-taped douchebags in your car trunk, afterall. Believe me, I know.

For some reason, during my latest viewing of Uncle Buck I kept thinking that little Maisy Russell kinda resembled Mike Patton. Anyone else seeing this, or am I an idiot?

Anyway, I found this on a random forum through Google. The site was in Spanish, and since my Spanish vocabulary is at around the 30-40 word limit I'm not sure who to credit for this, but thanks to the original uploader.

Update, this soundtrack was actually originally posted over at The Inferno Music Crypt, and was created by Phaota. So huge thanks to Phaota and The Inferno Music Crypt for ripping/sharing this first.

Zombieland Red Band Trailer (HQ)

New Red Band trailer for Zombieland. Stick it out to the end to witness the death of Ned Schneebly, on the crapper.

John Hughes - February 18, 1950 - August 6, 2009

A couple of days late with this post, but seeing how the man was responsible for making me laugh approximately 872 times over the past 20 years, I felt I still needed to remember him here, late or not.
