House of the Devil Coming Soon To DVD, Blu-Ray and....VHS?

This might be the coolest DVD extra I've ever seen - and it's not even on the DVD. The DVD can be purchased bundled with a VHS copy, complete with over-sized clam shell Gorgon case. Sure, this idea is gimmicky as hell and it's a bit pointless to own two copies of the same movie (this coming from the guy who currently has three copies of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly), but as a lover of old VHS cover art I don't think I can resist making this purchase.

I snatched the above photo from the Mondo Tees Blog, where you can find a complete review of the packaging with several more photos.

Can't wait for the moment when VHS tapes and boxes will be collector items... I'll be rich! ;)

I got the vhs tape without the dvd from the goodie table at work, and I have to say it was lacking a bit on extras. :) The movie itself was good fun, they even got the pacing of an eighties film correct, but I don't think I remember walkmans being as large as the one used in this film.

VHS tapes already are collectors items...at least rare ones are. In the UK, tapes released before the Video Recordings Act, especially films on the Director Of Public Prosecutions so called "video nasties" list.

My favourite video cases are those that are like audio cassette cases...not sure whether they ever had those in the US. Some of those tapes had fold out sleeves. I bought a German dvd of the Hammer rarity "Shatter" & it came in a dvd clam shell case, much nicer than the usual cheap cases.

I think that is a great idea! I really wanted to like this movie but was let down at how it played out in the end. I also thought they wasted Tom Noonan.
