This is Mark Isham's music from the 1986 premake of The Hitcher, the classic C. Thomas Howell film in which Rutger Hauer halves Jennifer Jason Leigh. A film which Roger Ebert HATED THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF. He deemed The Hitcher worthy of no thumbs up. Reading his review it seems he was disgusted with the gruesome violence. I haven't watched it in like 5 years or so, but apart from the aforementioned halving I don't remember it being particularly gruesome.
