Here is New Math's Wake The Dead, this has songs from their 'They Walk Among You' and 'Gardens' albums. If you downloaded the Jet Black Berries album I posted a few months back, give this one a shot. It has pretty much the same goth-tinged kinda pop/punk sound and contains the exact same lineup as the Jet Black Berries. They started as New Math in the mid 70s' and then changed the name to Jet Black Berries. For a little bio on the band check out this little fan page.

Thanks for introducing me to more music I hadn't heard of! Great job you are doing!
ReplyDeleteCheers!!! Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteI read about New Math in "Trouser Press" in my dorm room at Virginia Tech in July 1990 and requested "Invocation" when dialing in to the local campus radio station. They actually had and the DJ thanked me for introducing him to this great song.

ReplyDeleteWhy are some of the tracks different than the original versions? Listen to this version of "Love Under Will". It's different from both the album version and soundtrack version. Same with "The Flesh Element" (I can't even listen to these completely inferior versions). And why include live versions of "Ominous Presence" and "Power of the Air", but not the studio versions? And where is "Borrowed Time" from the Gardens EP?
ReplyDeleteI guess the biggest question is why the liner notes make no mention of this. I was in contact with Roy Stein (to inquire about an official complete remaster/rerelease of the Gardens EP), but he ended our correspondence abruptly when I asked why different versions were included in the "Wake The Dead" CD.
Check it out, if you have the original vinyl albums.
Thanks for this post! I am just getting into New Math.
