Earth Vs. The Spider: The DVD Cover

Thanks to Greg I was able to obtain an image of high enough quality to use for a DVD cover. So I put this one together based on the Rhino template (from the pre box set releases). Sadly, since the spider is very dark you can barely make out Crow, but you know he's there, so I think it's okay. I actually tried flipping the poster art but it looked awkward.

I'm adding it to the original post, but I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see it and print it out if they want. I've personally got about 50 custom MST3K covers printed out and they look really cool lined up on my shelf, so I always like to have DVD covers anytime I make a new DVD from an .avi file or one of the DAP DVD releases. I figure at least one other person out there likes to as well. If anyone catches any typos let me know. Last time I put a cover up I had Mike on the back and Joel's name on the front.

And, if you'd like the 300dpi cover, just click here to download it from Filesend. Thanks again Greg!

  1. I almost forgot...Do you HAPPEN to have a very early MST3K when they apparently showed PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE? I'd love to be able to see that if you got it.

greg - MST3K never featured "Plan 9". See this FAQ for more:

... another thing, you may have confused it with a recent "Plan 9" DVD release featuring a commentary track by Mike Nelson.

  4. Yeah, he's right, they never did Plan 9 on MST. You can buy that Plan 9 DVD from Amazon. You could also buy it from the Rifftrax site, or if you own a Plan 9 DVD you can buy the commentary track for like $2 and sync it up yourself.

    Maybe this will help you.

I am really after an original DVD full cover scan of Twisted Nerve if you or anybody can help, in high res, thanks in advance.

  6. Anonymous - Thanks for the link! I looked around and was able to find a high quality poster scan, but no DVD cover for Twisted Nerve. I was bored so I actually tried to make a cover for it, the front and spine look okay, but I always get stumped when trying to make a decent back for it. Let me know if you wanted the poster scan, I could link to that at least, or the partial cover I put together.

  8. Okay, here's most of what I came up with. I used an old poster I found and sorta used WB's Private Parts DVD as a guide. I couldn't get the same font as on the poster, but what I used looks okay. I didn't have a good font for the cast list on the back, but hopefully it looks okay. I tried making a back but I just couldn't think of anything really good to do with it. I'm still learning how to do this so let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions on how to make it better. I'll add to the back if I think of anything good, or if you have any ideas.

Heeey! That looks pretty damn good to me, I've done quite a bit of designing CD and DVD covers and there is not much I would have changed, I'll have a play with this (not much to add to what you have already done) so a big thank you to you friend.

  10. Glad you like it, please post what you add when you're done having a crack at it. I've got a high quality scan of that poster if you want to take a look at it. I'll post it here too, just in case.

  11. Here's the poster I used, it's got a different font for the title than I used, but I couldn't really get it to look right with the original font for some reason.
