Paul McCollough - The Majorettes

Paul McCollough presents the music from The Majorettes. McCollough doesn't have a lot of film work under his belt, but I'm sure everyone has heard his work on the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Speaking of NOTLD, Majorettes is one of two films directed by Bill Hinzman, the zombie who offs Barbara's brother during the "They're coming to get you, Barbara" scene in the original Night.

This music was an extra feature on Shriek Show's DVD. It reminds me a lot of the music from Linnea's Horror Workout. At least the first half, which consists of simplistic electro that spandexed women of the 1980's would've worked out to. It turns to a kind of spooky-electro towards the middle of the soundtrack though, maybe what spandexed goth women of the 1980's would've worked out to? Goths work out, right?

Soundtrack is only 6 Tracks, but I don't have titles for the tracks. Except the first track, which is called World Without Dreams by Wendi Kelly.

Vote For The Night of the Creeps DVD Cover

As any self-respecting David Paymer fan should already know, the glorious Night of the Creeps is set to have a loaded out the ass DVD release in October. The good news is you can vote for which cover you want the DVD to have. The bad news is...they all suck. For example:


Okay, the first cover is kinda cool, great logo at least. With some slight modifications it would even be pretty good (change Chris and J.C.'s expressions for one thing), but the other two? Not for me. I do like how they gave the alien a starring role on cover 3, seeing that he's in the movie for about 90 seconds and doesn't really have a lot to do with anything.

Nicholas Pike - Critters 2

I just finished rewatching Critters 2 for the first time in many, many years and I remembered I had the score. I found it a while back on either a Blogger site or a torrent site, so I thought I'd post it here for anyone who is currently without it.

My first thought after watching this for the first time in roughly 15 years - Holy crap, I liked a Mick Garris movie. My second thought - How is this PG-13 with about 20 seconds of Roxanne Kernohan boob nudity? We're not talking a quick side boob shot, this was a fairly lingering frontal shot. Stupid 80s'. Who else got pissed when she morphed into Eddie Deezen for a while towards the middle of the movie? Be honest. I was pissed in 1988, and son of a bitch I was pissed an hour and half ago when I happened again. Of course she morphs back again a few minutes later, but then she's eaten by the Crites immediately after. It's a bummer.

I was also happy to see Liane Curtis, I loved her in Girlfriend From Hell - a movie I've been meaning to put up here since there is no DVD release. She was also great in the best rockin' and/or rollin' high school movie of them all Rock 'n' Roll High School Forever. I know, I know, Rock 'n' Roll High School had the Ramones, but it also had P.J. Soles, at her most migraine inducing, so all the coolness the Ramones brought is instantly taken away by an annoying P.J. Soles performance. So that makes Forever the superior R'n'R High film, in my opinion. Not that it has anything to do with Critters whatsoever, I just feel the need to defend my controversial preference of R'n'R Forever.

Anyway, in addition to the score, I've ripped the tremendously obnoxious Hungry Heifers jingle from the end credits.

Over The Top

The 1987 Menahem Golan(!) film Over The Top, starring Sylvester Stallone and a probably inebriated Robert Loggia. Just watch him, you'll see what I mean. Over The Top is the story of burly meathead truck driver/underground arm wrestler (is arm wrestling illegal?) Lincoln Hawk on a cross country trek with a son named Michael who hates him - probably because his Dad named him Mike Hawk. Like any kind of road trip movie with characters who initially dislike each other (Dutch, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Rubin and Ed) they eventually bond over trucking and the art of wrestling arms.

I'm hoping they remake this movie, only instead of an Arm Wrestling Championship, have Lincoln be active in the World Rock, Paper, Scissors Society. Or maybe something even more painfully stupid, like an Air Guitar Competition.

Count Floyd

This is one of the coolest things I've ever discovered. A four song mini-LP from the host of SCTV's Horror Chiller Monster Theatre, Count Floyd - my personal favorite part of any SCTV episode.

A brief description from the SCTV Guide:

I had no idea this existed until two days ago. While I was doing the You Can't Do That On Television post I was double checking to make sure the "Theatre" in Horror Chiller Monster Theatre was spelled with an "re" and not a "er". I noticed a link that mentioned an album from Joe Flaherty as the Count Floyd character. Novelty album fan that I am, I immediately started searching my usual sources, "Count Floyd Rapidshare" on Google, Demonoid, Cinemaggedon...but no luck. After a bit more Google searching (I refuse to use Googling as a term) I managed to find a random MediaFire link with the file name Count Floyd, and now here it is for you all to check out. So thanks a lot to the random person who uploaded it to MediaFire.

Obviously it's a really silly album, with songs about nocturnal emissions and Rastafarians at Christmastime. But the songs are quite catchy, and pretty damn funny. At one point Count Floyd insists a mistake by the band is kept on the record so everyone will know what kind of bums he's working with. It's a short album with a small file size, so no one has any excuse not to check this rarity out.

Piero Montanari - Ghosthouse/Frankenstein 2000

Just when you didn't think there could possibly be any more composers named Piero, here is Piero Montanari with the music from both Umberto Lenzi's Ghosthouse and Joe D'Amato's Frankenstein 2000. Or Frankenstain as the CD cover says, which makes it sound like the title of some kind of kinky Frankenporn. Which is actually kind of fitting given the stuff Joe was directing during the last few years of his life - Anal Perversions of Lolita comes to mind. In fact, I'm sure Aristide probably could've even been persuaded to make a Frankenstein themed porno if not for his untimely passing.

Chuck Me - Chuck Lives!

This has never been an entertainment news site - and given my general sense of laziness it never will be - but since I am a huge Chuck fan and I had that Chuck petition up here, I thought I should probably mention this bit of news. Chuck has been officially given another season. But not until 2010, after the Olympics (the Olympics, are they still doing that?):

"NBC's shared time period strategy will kick off this fall on Mondays with the premiere of "Heroes" (8-9 p.m. ET) continuing with all originals before "Chuck" assumes the time period after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, which will be a powerful launching platform with its broad, female appeal and strong ratings as the most-watched event of the year. Using "NBC Sunday Night Football's" potent promotional platform, the new high-octane drama "Trauma" will debut Mondays (9-10 p.m. ET) with the epic event series "Day One" taking over the time period following the Olympics."

Return of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The Animated Series

And...I'm back. Back from my vacation which started with my car's A/C Compressor costing me $800 and ended with me getting a cold and coming home early. Good times. The memories, they'll last a lifetime. But enough pessimism from me, onto today's post.

I've actually gotten a couple of comments requesting more of the Killer Tomato cartoons, so here we go. This is episode 7-12 of the series. Again I've put them up on MegaUpload, so you can watch them directly from the site, or download them for a more convenient viewing experience.

Ooky, Animated

Today, I have 6 episodes of the Addams Family animated series that ran from 1992-1995. The 90's series features the voice talent of John Astin (who also worked on the recently posted Killer Tomatoes series), Rip Taylor and Carol Channing. There was another animated series in the 1970's, but sadly I don't have any of those at the time. If anyone does, guide me to them.

I've posted all of the episodes on MegaUpload. As a Rapid Premium member I usually upload there, but Mega is much quicker for uploading TV shows. Plus they have the MegaVideo feature which allows you to just watch the episode, so that's a cool bonus.

In my last post I mentioned the Hideous Sexy book put out by Penny Dreadful. I'm very impressed with CreateSpace, a mere two days after ordering the book, my copy showed up. And this is with me choosing the absolute cheapest shipping option, so I highly recommend ordering from them. The book itself is gorgeous, Simon did an outstanding job putting this thing together. I know, I know, it just sounds like friendly ass-kissery on my part, but this book just looks incredible. I've only had it in my possession for about 90 minutes so I haven't had a chance to read any of it yet but how could stories with titles like The Scalpel of Hate and Nudist Gym Death Riddle not be amazing? I'll report back with more of the gory details when I've given it a proper once-over.

Miracle Beach

This is Miracle Beach, one of my favorites I used to catch pretty frequently on HBO around 2 in the morning in the early 90's. It seemed like this always came on right after Dream On. Why I was up at 2 in morning watching Dream On and Miracle Beach when I was 11, I don't know.

Miracle Beach is comedy about a hot lovelorn genie starring Dean Cameron, Ami Dolenz and Pat Morita. It was directed by Skott Snider (yes, with a 'K'), you may remember his work on Playboy's Video Centerfold: Playmate of the Year Reneé Tenison, and Playboy: Wet & Wild II. Miracle Beach has been out of print on VHS for a good 15 years and as of this post it has never been released on DVD anywhere in the world. Shame really.

The plot, as written by some dude on the IMDB:
"A romantically hapless young man (Scott) has his life changed when he finds the proverbial genie-in-a-bottle, in this case a very comely lass (Jeannie). With Jeannie granting wishes left and right, Scott soon has a fine house, a wonderful car, and a chance to impress the girl of his dreams. But is this the way to true happiness?"

By traditional standards, this is not a very good movie. However, for some reason I really find it to be an enjoyable, and dare I say sweet movie - terrible 90's fashion aside. (Dean, is that a shirt or a Jamaican flag?) I think if you enjoy slightly fantasy based comedies with likable leads and a bit of heart thrown in for good measure, or you just like Dean Cameron and Ami Dolenz you should at least get something out of this one.

Christina Lindberg

Here are a couple of tracks from Christina Lindberg's (of They Call Her One Eye, not this chick) short singing career. Originally released on a 45 in FIB Aktuellt magazine, these two tracks were bonus features on Synapse's recent DVD of Lindberg's 1971 film Exposed.

Eden Log

Here's something cool I just stumbled upon. Seppuku Paradigm, composers for the 2007 French film Eden Log are offering up (most of) the score to the film here as a free download. Seppuku Paradigm's music was also featured in the wildly uneven 2008 film Martyrs, so if you enjoyed the music in Martyrs, give this a listen. I haven't heard this yet myself, but I'm downloading it now and thought I'd share the link.

Thought I'd share a few more of my custom DVD cover because why not? Eraserhead Criterion - I used an awesome Japanese poster for this. As cool as the Jack Nance poster image is, I am a little tired of that seemingly being the only image you can use on an Eraserhead cover.



Harold and Maude Criterion - Another attempt at a Criterion style cover.



The Blob '88 - I know, I know, the Blob is way more red than it is on the cover. Poster Blob was pink, I darkened it as much as I could without it looking too crappy. And yes, I know the tagline on the back is the same as on the front. I'll fix it later on some time.



Spasms - Used the original VHS back, but the front cover was one of those Red Foil covers. Those don't scan very well, so I improvised and used an image from a poster for Stanley, another snake themed horror film.

Before I shut up, I got a pretty cool comment not too long ago from a guy called Coop some of the artists out there might be interested in. I'll just paste what is written on his site:

"I am attempting to amass a large collection of portraits of Frankenstein's Monster in as many different styles and in as many different media as possible as an ongoing art project. Asylum Party - Borderline

A bit of a change of pace here today, this is French Coldwave, New Wave, Post Punk or "Nouvelle Vague" - in two reviews I saw them called all of these things - band Asylum Party and their 1989 album Borderline. I just discovered this album on another blog a few weeks ago and I think it's a pretty amazing album that should definitely be more well known. I've just listened to track 10 about 5 times in a row while uploading/posting. Give it a shot, you might just love it as much as I do.

Withnail & I

One of my absolute favorite films (Top 10, probably) Withnail & I (German title, Withnail & I), Bruce Robinson's tremendously funny 1987 film about two unemployed actors in London and their mistaken holiday. Starring the brilliant Richard E. Grant as Withnail, Paul McGann as "I" (actual character name Marwood, though it's not mentioned in the film or credits) and Richard Griffiths as raving homosexual Monty. Also with Ralph Brown, nearly stealing the show as deranged drug dealer Danny. Ralph was also in Wayne's World 2 as Del Preston, a character very similar to his Danny character from Withnail.

I recently purchased the R2 3-disc DVD of the movie. Included was a cd of the score. The original soundtrack featured both the score and the other songs featured in the film (the Jimi Hendrix tracks, The Beatles, King Curtis, etc.), so I ripped my CD of the score and tracked down the rest of the songs featured on the soundtrack.

Stefano Mainetti - Ratman (Quella villa in fondo al parco)

This is Stefano Mainetti's music from the 1988 film Quella Villa in Fondo al Parco, better known simply as Ratman. Starring 2' 4¼" tall Dominican Nelson de la Rosa in the title role of Ratman. Nelson was best remembered for starring alongside Marlon Brando in the Island of Dr. Moreau. Ratman also starred the highly likable Italian horror regular David Warbeck. Ratman's tagline - I'm not making this up - He's The Critter From The Shitter!

Petition to Save Chuck

I've got some more music to post later on today, but first a little rant if I might. Chuck, my current favorite show on television, is at risk of being canceled. Between not so great ratings, and NBC giving no-talent ass clown Jay Leno a 10 o'clock show, Chuck is pretty close to getting dropped after next week's season finale.

I guess it seems like kind of a silly thing to post about, the show doesn't have many viewers so I can see why NBC might be afraid to keep it. However, I really think it's an excellent show that just hasn't been around long enough to quite find an audience. As someone who has been a fan of many high quality shows that get canned because Americans would rather watch some famous twats play dress up and practice dance routines, or watch some kind of glorified karaoke competition than a quality scripted show like Chuck or 30 Rock, I really don't want to see this happen yet again.

I know petitions don't usually do anything, but I found this one today:

It's already got around 20,000 signatures, so if you are one of the few watching Chuck, get over there and sign. Or if you don't watch Chuck, and just like my little site here, do me a favor and give it a sign. I'll be leaving the Save Chuck petition box up on my sidebar for the couple of weeks until NBC announces the show's fate.

Don't let what happened to Arrested Development, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, or Wonderfalls happen to Chuck.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The Animated Series

After the success (?) of Killer Tomatoes Strike Back! – the second sequel in John Debello’s Killer Tomato series – John, acting as producer, set out to give the children of the world something they didn't even know they had always wanted. That something? Attack of the Killer Tomatoes in animated form.

AOTKT:TAS features the voice talent of Tomatoes regular John Astin and also Maurice LaMarche who you'll probably instantly reocognize as Chief Quimby from Inspector Gadget (Along with about 200 other things).

Below you will find links for 5 episodes of the animated series. The first two files are up on Rapidshare, the other three are on Megaupload. I tried putting all on Rapid, but I was having trouble uploading today, so I just used Mega. Let me know if the MegaUpload files don't work - I uploaded all 3 in about 5 minutes. I haven't used them in a while, but I certainly don't remember upload speeds anywhere near that fast. They also give you the option of just watching the episode directly on the site now too, not sure when that started. Anyway, let me know if any of you have trouble with those.
