Hitting Shelves - Tuesday, March 20th

You may have noticed some Amazon links showing up here lately. They recently started allowing North Carolina residents to participate in the affiliate program for the first time since I've lived here, so I signed up in hopes to make a tiny bit of money while here. I'm not going to be obnoxious about it and overload the site with ads and I won't I mention it constantly. But if you see something on this list you'd like to buy anyway and want to help me out a bit feel free to click on it.

Moving on, there are a ton of great releases this week; Black Scorpion, The 'Burbs, Michele Soavi's The Church, Robert Altman's excellent Images. I can't keep up, I'm going to need a third job if these boutique labels keep up this pace.

They’re big. They’re bad. They scuttle along in caverns miles beneath the Earth – until an earthquake opens paths to the surface. Now, these monsters of genus Arachnida are invading our world with deadly force! With top special effects co-designed by King Kong’s Willis O’Brien, The Black Scorpion is horror with a sting more lethal than the king-sized ants that overran Los Angeles’ sewers in the classic Them! Can humankind survive these invincible juggernauts? That fate rests on the shoulders of Hank Scott (1950s monster-movie stalwart Richard Denning) as the creatures rip a train from its track, snatch a helicopter from the sky and, in the film’s most gripping sequence, battle each other in their subterranean lair. Watch out!

Tom Hanks stars in The 'Burbs, a comedy about a suburbanite whose plans for a peaceful vacation at home are disturbed by a creepy new family on the block. Much to the disappointment of his wife (Carrie Fisher), Ray Peterson (Hanks) and his three neighbors set out to investigate the next-door residence after they begin to observe strange happenings. Set in an average neighborhood that is anything but ordinary, The 'Burbs blends slapstick comedy and spine-thrilling mystery and is superbly directed by cult filmmaker Joe Dante (Piranha, Gremlins, Matinee, The Howling).

In the middle of a modern city, an ancient evil is about to awaken! Legendary horror maestro Dario Argento (Suspiria, Opera, Deep Red) presents this stylish shocker from director Michele Soavi (The Sect, Dellamorte Dellamore, Stagefright), featuring an avalanche of nightmarish visual effects and a powerful score by Goblin and Keith Emerson. The early seventies were a period of remarkable activity for Robert Altman, producing masterpiece after masterpiece. At the time he came to make Images, MASH and McCabe & Mrs. Miller were behind him, with The Long Goodbye, California Split and Nashville still to come.
Originally conceived in the mid-sixties, Images concerns a pregnant children s author (Susannah York, who won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival) whose husband (Rene Auberjonois) may or may not be having an affair. While on vacation in Ireland, her mental state becomes increasingly unstable resulting in paranoia, hallucinations and visions of a doppelgänger.
Scored by an Oscar-nominated John Williams, with sounds by Stomu Yamash'ta (The Man Who Fell to Earth), Images also boasts the remarkable cinematography of Vilmos Zsigmond (Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

88-Films also just put this out, theirs is only a 2K scan, but it does have a Hysteria Lives commentary track. Buy it if you want to spite Code Red's Bill Olsen and possibly have him refer to you as a tadpole nutsack on the utterly insane Blu-ray.com thread. Sad to say. Check out that thread here if you want to spend an evening having your mind altered.

Every 22 years, poor Ralph is doomed to lose his soulmate, Mona, at the hands of a rhinestone-peg-legged pirate brandishing a large hambone (just go with us on this). But this time around, with the help of his newly-formed band Rockula, Ralph is determined to crush the curse once and for all — and show Mona that when you're a vampire, true love is eternal … and rock 'n' roll never dies!

Directed by Luca Bercovici (Ghoulies) and featuring an eclectic cast of co-stars, including cult favorite Susan Tyrrell (Forbidden Zone) and recording stars Thomas Dolby, Toni Basil, and Bo Diddley, Rockula is an absolutely batty, bloody bizarre comedy!

Messiah of Evil, Brotherhood of Death and More on Blu-ray From Code Red

A new Blu-ray bundle has just gone up for preorder from Code Red. The full list of titles is below. I'm particularly excited to pick up the wonderfully bizarre Messiah of Evil.

The cheerleading team at Aloha High are popular with their fellow students (except for a couple of stuck-up rich girls), but they're a major cause of the school's lecherous reputation for underage sex and drug abuse. The fun-loving gals spike the lunchroom spaghetti sauce with a concoction of pot, pills, and powders, hold wild orgies in the boys' locker room, and never bother to attend their classes. The school board considers a merger with Aloha's biggest rivals, the vocational school Lincoln High, but the cheerleaders refuse to mix with the low-class juvenile delinquents that go there. A new principal, ex-Marine Hall Walker (Norman Thomas Marshall), might whip the school into shape, but it'll mean forcing the cheerleaders out of the squad and back into the classroom.

Though the girls prove their importance to Aloha spirit at the crucial moment of a big basketball game, it turns out that more sinister forces are at work when the school is blown up and the principal is kidnapped. It's up to the cheerleaders to save the day and unravel a conspiracy to steal Aloha High's land for a shopping mall.Carl Ballantine, David Hasselhoff, and genre vet Rainbeaux Smith appear in this energetic sex comedy.

-Includes both Wide and Fullscreen versions
-Audio Commentary with director/writer/producer Richard Lerner & director of photography Nathaniel Dorsky

    1.78.1 (16x9)

This is a low-budget horror movie about a psychopathic gardener with a penchant for killing off young women, undoubtedly due to some twisted psycho-sexual malfunction that leads him to rape his first victim before drowning her in a fish tank. His second female victim is dispatched when she catches sight of him carrying off corpse #1. Victim #3 is targeted -- she is the sister of #1 -- but she manages to escape into a beach house as a temporary defense of sorts. Meanwhile, two security police spot the demonic psycho trying to smash into the house, and when they go to capture him, one is killed and the other battles the psycho in a swimming pool. Just when the end seems near, however, the crazed killer rises again -- the menace, it seems, has not been laid to rest.

You can grab the bundle for $79.99 or the individual releases here. You save about $10 by buying the bundle. There are a few important things to know about these releases:

    • They are scheduled to be released "around October 15th-20th."
    • Brotherhood of Death, Lady Stay Dead and Revenge of the Cheerleaders are limited to 1,000 copies.
    • The bundle is only available for US customers and will be taken down once the inventory arrives at Bill's....uh, garage, I guess. (I'm not sure what kind of a set up Mr. Olsen has for this operation.) After that you'll only be able to order each title individually.
    • Finally, don't order the bundle with any other titles because, and I quote: "IF YOU ORDER OTHER TITLES, YOUR ORDER WILL NOT BE SHIPPED AND REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. THIS ORDER IS SEPARATE THAN OTHER DEALS."

Neon Maniacs, Nail Gun Massacre + More on Blu-ray From Code Red

Code Red has just added FIVE new Blu-ray preorders to their Big Cartel page. Each release is limited to 1,000 copies - except Neon Maniacs which is 1,2000. You can see all of the new titles here. In a very smart move they've put up a bundle package of all five releases for $100. I was only in for Neon and Nail Gun at first but I ended up just grabbing the whole lot when I saw I could save $8 by buying all five. I hope they start offer up bundle packages like this, I'd probably buy a lot more from them .

If you want any of these I'd move on them now, I think this bundle might help Bill sell through these titles pretty quickly.

These are preorders and I haven't seen an official release date, but they usually don't post preorders months in advance, so I think these will be shipping in about a week or two.

In a small Texas town, the peaceful atmosphere is shattered when a beautiful young woman is the victim of a savage sexual assault by a gang of construction workers. Shortly after this horrific event, a masked killer begins a blood-drenched killing spree with the help of a pneumatic nail gun. Victims are nailed to trees! Lovers are nailed to each other! As the increasingly mutilated bodies begin to pile up, a local sheriff and the town doctor begin an investigation to solve the deadly crimes before the Nail Gun Killer finishes his gruesome masterpiece of industrial strength horror! Will they be able to stop this wisecracking madman in time, or will they be the last unlucky souls to get nailed? Is anyone safe from this gleeful psychopath's murderous mission?

    SPECIAL FEATURES
+ Brand New HiDef mastered created from the only surviving elements from filmmaker
    • Visit the Nail Gun Massacre Locations
    • Joe Bob Briggs interviews the cast at Texas Frightmare Weekend
    • Interview with director Terry Lofton
    • Interview with Whitey Thomas
    • An Evening at the Alamo Drafthouse with Rocky Patterson and Michelle Meyer
+ added bonus. previous distributor said in their blog....

When doing the new transfer and seeing the FULL aperture in the telecine, there were a lot of microphones, wires, light reflections and, even at the end, the legs of the killer flying up from a dirt pile, that were never meant to be seen and were printed on the film, but meant to be masked out in theatres. During one bedroom scene, the microphone was practically all the way up to the top of the bed with the actors! LOL! It would be silly to release it full frame and have microphones hanging in scenes, especially when they weren't supposed to be there.

The older master was probably slightly zoomed in to remove these mics, wires, etc. all those years ago when it was first created. And, if that's the case, perhaps ours will have a lot more side L/R info, since we didn't zoom in. I'll dig out the limited DVD and take a look as soon as I get a VHS check tape of our transfer to compare, but ours will definitely look far superior quality wise... and be framed properly.

SINCE THE OTHER LABEL SUPERVISED THE SAME 16MM ELEMENT WE USED. CODE RED WAS AT DELUXE AND FOTOKEM ON THIS TITLE! SO CODE RED IS PROUD TO PLACE A "BOOM MIKE CUT" ON THE BLU SO WE ALL CAN ENJOY THE MICS, WIRES AND ALL THE GOOD STUFF! NOW IT'S FRAMED PROPERLY AVOIDING THE BOOM MIKE AND ALSO ANOTHER VERSION AS A ADDED BONUS AS A "BOOM MIKE CUT"!

In the heart of San Francisco, the legions of the damned lay waiting beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. As night falls, this battalion of butchery is unleashed upon the city to carve terror into the souls of the innocent. But when one young woman named Natalie (Leilani Sarelle of Basic Instinct) escapes a bloody teen slaughter, she can't convince anyone that a rampaging army of psychotic 'monsters' has mutilated her friends. Now haunted, hunted and having a hard time in high school, Natalie must arm herself and her classmates for one final bizarre battle against the horror of the Neon Maniacs!

4 New Titles Just Released By Code Red

Here's something we haven't seen for a couple of months, a brand new batch of new releases from Code Red! No horror this time, but Death Machines promises "zombie assassins" and Foxbat promises Henry Silva, so that's good enough for me.

These are all listed as preorders, but each title has this message:

PRODUCT WILL BE SHIPPED WHEN IT ARRIVES AT THE WHEREHOUSE

So it shouldn't be more than a week before Bill has the new titles in stock and starts shipping them out.

    Up first Foxbat:

There is an international race to obtain blueprints of a MIG-25 "Foxbat" Soviet fighter plane which has landed in Japan. An undercover U.S. spy Saxon (Henry Silva, JOHNNY COOL, TRAPPED) has managed to take photos of the jet plans with a camera hidden in his left eyeball and now must get the microfilm back to his country. There are competing representatives from many countries trying to do the same thing to, and at one point there is even a super-secret auction of the plans. The KGB is not taking this situation sitting down, and agents are dispatched to destroy the plans and anyone who has them. The search and destroy mission action moves from Tokyo to Hong Kong, as the US agent attempts to contact a man who can arrange for the proper delivery of the microfilm. Inspired by a true story, this action-adventure thriller was talk of Cannes festival in 1977 as it has a very high budget for a independent Hong Kong film. Vonetta McGee (EIGER SANCTION), Rik Van Nutter (THUNDERBALL) and Roy Chiao (GAME OF DEATH) co-stars. Directed by Po-Chih Leong (CABIN BY THE LAKE)!

New Code Red Titles Available Now

Up first, one of the odder DVD releases I've ever seen. It's a double feature of Night of the Living Dead and I Eat Your Skin, which is a perfectly fine double feature. It's an unnecessary set of titles to release - I Eat Your Skin has been on DVD 24 times, and there are no less than 150 releases of Night of the Living Dead, but it's not a bad double feature (just ask the people making Elvira DVDs). What makes it odd is that for whatever reason this release is vaguely racist, just look at the title: BROTHERZ REVENGE DOUBLE BILL! NIGHT OF LIVIN' DEADZ + ZOMBIEZ

The vague racistness (that's not a word) carries on in the write-ups:

NIGHT OF THE LIVIN' DEADZ UNRATED/2.35:1
George Romero directs this cult classic! The radiation from a fallen satellite might have caused the recently deceased to rise from the grave and seek the living to use as grub. This is the situation that a group of losers penned up in an old farmhouse must deal with. Racial tension escalates as African-American brother Duane Jones tries to tell everyone what to do, and one honky (Karl Hardman) doesn’t want to listen. Code Red is proud to present this classic motion picture in the euro-cut in 2.35:1 Letterbox as many Asian countries viewed it that way. To add some creativity, we did a tribute to Al Adamson by adding color dimension to this historical release.

ZOMBIEZ (aka I EAT YOUR SKIN) PG/ 2.35:1

A bunch of groovy white cancer researchers partying on a remote Caribbean island discover that by treating the black natives with snake venom, they can turn them into egg-eyed zombies with attitude. Soon, they have an army of the soulless brother creatures in order to conquer the world!! Zombies never got as lame as in this 1964 movie that is so intense that it was not released to the theatres until 1971. Now it has become a cult classic since it's on tons of vhs/dvd releases from public domain companies. Code Red is proud to present this motion picture in the euro-cut in 2.35:1 Letterbox as many Asian countries viewed it that way. Too add some creativity, we did a tribute to Al Adamson by adding color dimension to this historical release.

     BOTH SHOWN IN LOLLIPOP COVERMATION

Shown in Lollipop Covermation? What in the fuck does that mean? What is lollipop covermation? Nevermind the lillipop part, what is covermation? I looked it up, it's not a word. It's no more a word than "racistness" is. Did he write covermation, but mean to say Colormation?

This is such an odd release, it just seems like a colorized versions of the films in 2.35:1 ratios, but what's with all the "Brotherz" stuff? I'm not sure the terms "soulless brother creatures" and "honky" should be written on a businesses' website, even as a joke. I mean, I don't care, I'm pretty unoffendable, I'm just saying racial stuff is a really touchy subject for most people and this could potentially really piss some people off.

Now a more normal release (apart from the "Pre-Apocalyptic Collection" banner)

    PROBABILITY ZERO 1969 / R RATED / 1.85:1 (16X9)

Horror icon Dario Argento wrote this WWII action film set in Norway. A plane with some top secret cargo (Radar Equipment) was shot down over "Once Occupied Norway". With that technology, the Germans could finally win the war (but only when they can repair it). One of the aircraft captains is seriously injured, but survives the crash and the Germans hide him (so he can regain his strength) in a hospital to get his knowledge about the technology. The Duke (Henry Silva, TRAPPED, JOHNNY COOL) takes over the job to destroy the "Radar Equipment". He and some Norwegian guerrillas are on the perilous mission to stop the Nazis before they win the war! Classic War action directed by Maurizio Lucidi (STREET PEOPLE, STATELINE MOTEL).

    SULLIVAN'S MARAUDERS 1968 / PG RATED / 1.85:1 (16X9)

From the mind of Dario Argento and Menahem Golan comes a lean, mean war film! Tough Sgt. Sullivan (Western tough guy Lee Van Cleef) puts together a group of Italian-Americans into disguise as Italian soldiers in order to infiltrate a North African camp held by the Italians. After the soldiers have knived the Italians in their beds, they find a hooker (Marilu Tolo THE GREEK TYCOON) living at the camp. Sullivan's commandos are to hold this camp and its weaponry until an American battalion arrives, all the while these Italian-Americans pretend to be Italian soldiers, often hosting the enemy. Lt. Valli (Jack Kelly, TV's MAVERICK) is a young, "green," by-the-book officer who constantly argues with Sgt. Sullivan, and tells his superior that he has no idea what he is doing. One man on the base, probably a touch from Argento, is an entomologist who is needlessly killed. Things go terribly wrong after that. Marino Mase (ALIEN CONTAMINATION), Duilio Del Prete (VOICES FROM BEYOND), Gotz George, and the loveable Romano Puppo (ENDGAME, AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK) co-star. Directed by Armando Crispino (THE DEAD ARE ALIVE, AUTOPSY). This is the shorter theatrical USA cut!

Never saw The Love Butcher but Trick or Treats is entertaining enough. It's also notable for featuring the most gullible babysitter in movie history. This chick gets pranked about a dozen times and falls for it every single time, it's ridiculous. Worth a look, but the Code Red DVD is a bit pricey at $20.

Gary Graver's TRICK OR TREATS (1982) David Carradine! Steve Railsback!
Five years after his wife, Joan (Carrie Snodgress, THE FURY), had him wrongfully and deliberately committed to a mental institution so she could live with her boyfriend (David Carradine, KILL BILL, TV's KUNG-FU), Malcolm (Peter Jason, 48HRS) escapes on Halloween night and arrives back at his old house to murder her, except Joan is not home but she's out with her boyfriend while babysitter Linda (Jacqueline Giroux, THIS IS HIJACK) is looking after Malcolm's 10-year-old son Christopher (Chris Graver), an equally psychotic and demented practical joker until, under cover of darkness, Malcolm shows up and planning on making a visit. Steve Railsback (STUNT MAN, LIFEFORCE), Paul Bartel (EATING RAOUL), Jillian Kesner (RAW FORCE), John Blyth Barrymore Football great Dan Pastorini and Tim Rossovich co-star. LOVE BUTCHER (remastered widescreen edition) WIDESCREEN! 2.35.1
A string of murders in a posh neighborhood has the police department stumped and the local press is breathing down their necks. Strangely, nobody notices that several victims share the same gardener, a bent, elderly man with a crippled arm named Caleb (Erik Stern, ASSASSINATION). Even though all of the murder weapons are lawn care tools, Caleb remains above suspicion. Of course, it isn't Caleb doing the killing, but rather his second personality, a confident, handsome younger brother named Lester (also played by Erik Stern) who Caleb turns into when he dons a toupee. That's when he seduces and then slashes his employers, most of whom heap insults and derision upon Caleb as he works. Lester dons a variety of disguises to "gain entry," employing false accents and charming patter to bed down his victims. The two personalities battle when alone, though, and one of them will eventually have to overcome the other. Richard Kennedy (CANDY TANGERINE MEN), Robin Sherwood (TOURIST TRAP) co-star. Directed by Mikel Angel and Don Jones (THE FOREST).

It was the biggest gold heist the West had ever seen, but it didn't go as the gang planned. Now one of the thieves is dead, torn limb from limb by a band of five desperadoes. His partner, Jokko, arrives too late; the murderers are gone, and on five pieces of bloodstained rope Jokko (Euro-cult icon Richard Harrison) swears revenge! Blazing a bloody trail, Jokko tracks the desperadoes and one by one returns each piece of rope to its owner, along with hot lead and a shallow grave. A fateful clue leads Rocco to the last murderer, a deadly surprise and the fight of his life. Just Before Dawn and Voices From Beyond - Code Red Blu-rays Preorder Now

Code Red's first ventures into Blu-ray have just gone up for preorder on the Big Cartel site; Jeff Lieberman's Just Before Dawn and Lucio Fulci's Voices From Beyond. Both titles are limited - Voices is only 1,000 copies and the number isn't mentioned for Dawn, but I think he said 2,000 or 3,000 on one of the forums he posts on. I'm not sure how well Voices will sell, but I predict Just Before Dawn will sell very well, so I'm going to put in an order for that one now.

    JUST BEFORE DAWN - $26.99

    LIMIT TWO PER CUSTOMER
Five friends set out for a weekend camping excursion, to drink, frolic and skinny-dip on an isolated piece of land one of them has inherited. Despite ominous warnings from local forest ranger (GEORGE KENNEDY, AIRPORT, DEATHSHIP), strange backwoods families, and a hollering drunken hunter (Mike Kellin, SLEEPAWAY CAMP) claiming to have witnessed his friend’s evisceration by the hands of "Demons", they trek further into the foliage. Beautifully shot, extremely eerie, and with a horrifying twist that will make you wonder...Will any of them survive those dark hours Just Before Dawn? Starring Gregg Henry (MEAN DOG BLUES, RICH MAN POOR MAN), Deborah Benson (SEPTEMBER 30, 1955), Jamie Rose (TV's LADY BLUE), Chris Lemmon (TV's THUNDER IN PARADISE), and Ralph Seymour (UNDERGROUND ACES). CODE RED proudly presents JUST BEFORE DAWN painstakingly restored from the original 35mm Internegative.

    VOICES FROM BEYOND - $19.99

    LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER.
If you think the dead rest in peace, prepare yourself for Voices from Beyond, a chilling ghost story with a modern twist. The unexpected death of wealthy, middle-aged Giorgio from an internal hemorrhage has cast suspicion on his scheming family, all of whom had reasons to commit murder. Rosy, the innocent daughter, is tormented by her father's spirit, who demands the revelation of his killer. Could it be Giorgio's wife, his mistress, his stepson or his stepmother? Or perhaps an even more fiendish mind is at work within the dark, deadly confines of their sprawling estate? Soon Rosy's life is in danger as well as she races against time to unmask the face of true evil and silence the unearthly voice of a ghost out for justice. From the diabolical mind of Italian horror legend Lucio Fulci, the man behind The Beyond and Aenigma, comes one of his final voyages into the supernatural, laced with his trademark scenes of terror and mayhem. Turn down the lights, curl up tight, and listen closely - the voices from beyond might be out there waiting for you, too!

Devil's Express Available Now From Code Red

There are actually a couple of brand new releases that have just been posted on the Code Red Big Cartel store, but one of the releases is a triple feature and I didn't want the post title to be 37 words long. Up first a triple feature consisting of The Female Bunch, Piranha Piranha, and Tarzana The Wild Girl. The second, and most awesome looking new release is Devil's Express, starring a real crazy looking son of a bitch named Warhawk Tanzania. It seems like something I would've checked out before, but somehow I've never seen Devil's Express. It sounds kinda like a Kung-Fu C.H.U.D., and that sounds pretty great to me.

    DEVIL'S EXPRESS - $19.99
New York Master Martial Artist Luke (Warhawk Tanzania) goes to Hong Kong to earn his next level in the Martial Arts world. He convinces his student Rodan (Wilfredo Roldan) to accompany him. Once they arrive, they come across an ancient burial site and find an amulet that holds a horrific demon creature in its power. Not knowing what the amulet was for, Rodan steals it and takes it back to gang infested New York City, only for the demon to come to New York to find it! The demon travels through the New York city subway tunnels as it preys on it's victims, including Rodan himself! The police think all the killings are a result of gang wars, but Luke soon finds out the terrifying truth and seeks out to avenge the death of his student! Luke must confront the horrifying demon face to face and do battle in the underground subways, where the only train that runs that late is the Devil’s Express! This gritty action, grindhouse, martial-arts, horror classic has finally arrived at the Code Red station! When the film THE WARRIORS was released theatrically, the distributor of DEVIL’S EXPRESS re-titled it as GANG WARS to make it look like a gang fight movie. It took CODE RED DVD many, many years to locate the camera Negatives and the film is now restored in HiDef! Also starring Brother Theodore and David Durston (I DRINK YOUR BLOOD). Directed by Barry Rosen (YUM YUM GIRLS)

    ACTION 3 PACK - $16.99

Grace (Jennifer Bishop, MAKO JAWS OF DEATH), the leader of the gang, puts Sandy through her initiation and they get on with the real job of running drugs across the Mexican border, hassling poor farmers, taking any man they please, and generally raising a little hell. Soon, Sandy becomes unsure if this is the life for her, but it may be too late to get out. Russ Tamblyn (WEST SIDE STORY, SATAN'S SADISTS), Lon Chaney Jr. (THE WOLFMAN), Geoffrey Land (REDNECK MILLER), Albert Cole (TERMINAL ISLAND), John Bud Cardos (KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS), and Jacqueline Cole (ANGELS’ BRIDGADE) co-star. Blood Farmers + Silent Night Bloody Night Out Now From Code Red

    INVASION OF THE BLOOD FARMERS
This dreadful, but oddly engaging horror Black comedy film from director Ed Adlum (SHRIEK OF THE MUTILATED) and co-writer Ed Kelleher deals with a cult of modern-day Druids on a farm in upstate New York. In order to keep their catatonic queen alive in her glass coffin, the cultists drain the blood from passersby with the aid of some cheap plastic tubing. The leader of the cult is a flamboyantly effeminate priest whose hilariously silly explanations of his beliefs provide most of the film's minimal entertainment value. Outlandish Paul Craig Jennings as Creaton lights up the insane film in this campy cult favorite. Co-produced by Jack Bravman (SNUFF, ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE)

The owner of the long-abandoned Butler estate is desperate to sell, and dispatches his lawyer from New York to negotiate its purchase by the town council. Meanwhile, an inmate from a nearby insane asylum breaks loose and makes his way to the old mansion to take bloody revenge for a crime kept hidden for 35 years. The maniac makes mysterious phone calls to various prominent citizens, telling them that "Marianne" has returned, and lures each to the Butler house to meet their doom. The mayor's daughter, Diane, receives a visit from a man who claims to be Jeremy Butler, the mansion's owner, in town to investigate his lawyer's disappearance. Together they attempt to unravel the sinister mystery of the Butler house, which turns out to be a harrowing tale of incest, insanity and mass murder. Get it now from Code Red. Also, while I'm talking Code Red I wanted to mention that it appears the absolutely terrific Retribution is currently back in stock. I recommend that one to everyone out there, in my opinion it's up there with Sole Survivor and Messiah of Evil as one of the very best films Code Red has released.

Evilspeak + Curse of the Blue Lights From Code Red

Code Red has finally gotten some brand new Horror releases out for us to devour. First, we can watch as Eaglebauer wreaks digitally demonic havoc on his tormentors in Evilspeak. Then, we've got Curse of the Blue Lights, which I've never seen, but appears to involve a fat homosexual zombie pharaoh and a stop-motion demon that's like something the creators of Winterbeast would've deemed even too silly to be in Winterbeast.

The site says "Shipping in 3 Weeks", but I've read of a few people already getting theirs just days after ordering, so I'd ignore the "3 Week" thing.

Glad to see these two releases, though if that goddamn Family Honor trailer rears it's ugly head when I pop the discs in I'm gonna scream. I'm not even interested in the movie and I've seen that trailer at least 49 times - he's had that trailer open so many discs that I've lost count. What do you think this is, Sicily?

    And now, onto the titles:

Curse of the Blue Lights - $19.99

A group of teenagers drive out of town above an old graveyard on Make-Out Hill. While there they notice two mysterious blue lights floating around black surroundings. When the kids investigate they discover demonic creatures living under the ground, creatures destined to bring an Ancient demon God back to life.

Shortly after local teens uncover the creature, his still-living legions of subterranean ghouls set to the task of bringing their god back to life, emerging from beneath the town cemetery and turning everyone in sight into puddles of melted corpse! Cult Classic directed by John Henry Johnson highlight this ambitious film made on location in Pueblo, Colorado!

    Evilspeak - $19.99

Life sucks for Stanley Coopersmith (Clint Howard, ROCK N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL), a teenage outcast who's bullied by everybody at the strict military academy he was sent to after his parents died. But when Stanley discovers the crypt of a 16th Century Satanist beneath the school's chapel, he creates a computerized Black Mass that unleashes unholy revenge upon his tormenters. Now, all Hell is breaking loose...and Stanley's flesh eating demon-pigs are only the beginning! Joe Cortese (DEATH COLLECTOR), Charles Tyner (R.G. Armstrong(CHILDREN OF THE CORN), Don Stark (TV's 70's SHOW) Lenny Montana (THE GODFATERHER), Hamilton Camp (SAFARI 3000), Don Stark (TV's THAT 70'S SHOW, SWITCHBLADE SISTERS), Richard Moll (TV's NIGHT COURT) Katherine Kelly Lang (ROLLER BOGGIE) and Haywood Nelson (WHAT'S HAPPENING!) co-star in this sick shocker packed with plenty of heart-ripping, head-splitting splatter!

Prior to its U.S. theatrical release, the distributors (New World's Frank Moreno) of EVILSPEAK were forced to cut much of its graphic violence to avoid an 'X' rating from the MPAA. now presents this gorehound favorite fully restored from newly 35MM IP discovered vault sources - including all of its long-rumored scenes of bloody carnage (Unlike the first release which was a reconstruction from a 35mm release print) - and featuring a all new revealing audio commentary writer/producer/director Eric Weston.

    VIRGINITY
A dramatic and intriguing love story about a Sicilian gentleman who rediscovers his Mediterranean roots when a beautiful young teenager declares her love for him. Antonio Mancuso (Vittoria Gassman, SCENT OF A WOMAN, QUINTET) has changed his name to Anthony M. Wilson and put his Sicilian background behind him to start a new life in London, as a ‘typically British’ owner of a chain of restaurants. For Anthony, life is perfect. He has a luxurious home, expensive cars and an English girlfriend, Vanessa (Madeleine Hinde, THE LAST VALLEY, BLOODSUCKERS), who divides her attentions between Anthony and her fiancĂ©. But things are about to change with the arrival of a remote Sicilian relative, a provocatively attractive teenager called Lucia (Ornella Muti, FLASH GORDON, OSCAR) who presents Anthony with a letter from her uncle requesting that he looks after her and safeguard her virginity. This is no easy task, and in desperation, Anthony employs a detective agency to watch Lucia, only to be shown footage of her in bed with a young man. Relieved to discover that Lucia had resisted the man’s advances, Anthony goes home to find her in his bedroom. Challenged about the film footage, she reveals that the young man was not for her…the man for her is Anthony! Madcap comedy ROMP with international cast of wacky actors like Dudley Sutton (THE DEVILS, THE LEATHER BOYS, TV's LOVEJOY), Graham Stark (A DAY AT THE BEACH) , Lou Castel (MR. Code Red Does John Travolto

Madman Bill Olsen has just posted three brand new releases over at the Code Red store. No horror, so nothing too enticing to me, but I'm sure these releases will make some of you happy. Can anyone tell me what the hell that John Travolto thing at the bottom is all about? Weird title, weirder tagline...I don't know, it all seems kinda weird.

    Dandy - $14.99

Dandy (Cynthia Denny) is a free loving 18 year old girl who has no place to go. Unhappy with her parents and bored with her life, Dandy decides to leave for the big city to try to make it in the rough life in California. Dandy stays with her boyfriend (played by David Roya, who played the bad guy Bernard in BILLY JACK), but that arrangement takes an evil stiff turn as she catches him hiding the salami with another gal. Dandy then tries out modeling in skin magazines only to be lured into prostitution and getting assaulted by a fetish-obsessed client. Dandy meets an older guy (John Alderman, ZEBRA FORCE) and falls in love, but later runs off with a weird swinging couple. She is abused, used and desired by the fast living men she meets in a wild orgy that moves from the luxuries of their bedrooms to the nude cavorting in their Olympic-sized pools. Strange, wild life a chick can have in 1970! Co-starring Frank Cuva (PSYCHO LOVER). Take a walk on the wild side with DANDY; it’s one dandy of a movie!

    Class of '74 + Gabriella, Gabriella - $17.99

WARNING: Due to the error by a Major Studio Lab, the first 15min of CLASS OF 74 has some issues. also the first 1,000 reel (10min) of the camera negative is missing so we had to take it from a release print, but after the first ten minutes, it is from the original neg, from a HD master, and looks great!
    CLASS OF 74

The Class of '74 is the story of four young women who belong to today . . . or perhaps even to tomorrow. When we first meet them on the campus, it is instantly apparent that they are four young women to whom nature has been generous . . . four bodies that have been amply endowed, designed to turn men's heads and cause their wives, girlfriends and/or mistresses concern. And interestingly, all four have looks to go with their bodies. Four distinctive, different faces, all of which epitomize young womanhood . . . in short, you don't know where to look first. And then we hear them talking . . . We realize they are bright, witty, intelligent women who believe in doing their own thing; free spirits whose moral codes are where everyone else secretly wishes theirs were. Except Gabriella. Gabriella (Barbara Caron, ESCAPE TO PASSION) is a bit unworldly, naive about life but willing to learn. She looks to her friends for advice and consultation. Then there is Maggie (Sandra Currie, POLICEWOMAN) who feels she is the equal of any man and has the looks, confidence and drive to do anything she wants. And Carla (Marki Bey, SUPERDUDE), black and beautiful, who is having a love affair with life. Black or white, it makes no difference as long as you live for today. As she tells Gabriella, "I'm making love happen, and it's the wildest kick I've ever had. The sooner you learn it's all wrapped up in the sex game we play, the better off you'll be." Finally, there is Heather (Pat Woodell, THE BIG BUST OUT), blonde, built and bright, whose ambitions lean towards owning a Greek island or being the next Princess of Monaco. Watch and listen to her for a few minutes and you'll know she's going to get what she wants . . . and more!

    Rated R/ 1.78:1. (16x9) / 76min

    GABRIELLA, GABRIELLA

Director Mack Bing delivered a strange film about a woman, Gabriella (Barbara Mills), who encounters strange hippies, rich people, and groupies in a strange, socially charged movie that runs like an experimental film. This film was later bought by Arthur Marks/General Films who added new footage and turned it into something new... CLASS OF ‘74.

    Rated R / 1.78:1 (16x9) / 68min
