Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort Out October 21st

Fox has just announced October 21st as the DVD/Blu-ray release date for the upcoming Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, directed by some guy and starring some people. Sorry, I was attempting to be funny there, but I think my joke sounded a lot more dickish than I meant it to. Valeri Milev is the director and it stars Sadie Katz, Aqueela Zoll, Anthony Ilott, Chris Jarvis, Rollo Skinner, Billy Ashworth, Joe Gaminara, Harry Belcher, Raymond Steers, Luke Cousins, Tabitha Luke Eardley and Roxanne Pallett.

I've actually seen every one of these things and I've found that every even numbered sequel is pretty good (part 2 is pretty great, actually), while the odd numbered sequels have been just absolutely goddamn terrible. So, statistically speaking, part 6 should be decent. I've also noticed that the make-up effects on the "hillbillies" is getting worse and worse, Three Finger looks like a goddamn lizard in this one for some reason. For example:

The Town That Dreaded Sundown Remake/Sequel Trailer Online Now

The trailer for the Town That Dreaded Sundown remake has made its way online. Though it shares the same title as the original film and is being called a remake, the plot description makes this sound like a sequel:

Based on a terrifying true story, The Town That Dreaded Sundown picks up sixty-five years after a masked serial killer terrorized the small town of Texarkana, when the "moonlight murders" begin again. Is it a copycat or something even more sinister? A lonely high school girl, with dark secrets of her own, may be the key to catching the murderer.

This sequel and/or remake (sequemake? requel?) looks to be more of a straight slasher film than the original which I'm okay with because the "slasher" parts of the original film are actually pretty intense and suspenseful and while this may be an unpopular opinion; I personally think the documentary voiceovers and the ill-fitting comedy really dragged the original film down. Sure, this could still totally suck ass, but it looks decent enough to me, I'll give it a look when it comes out October 16th. Check out the trailer below:

Trailer Roundup - Life After Beth, Into The Storm, At The Devil's Door & The Midnight Game

Tons of new trailers have come out today so I've rounded up some of my favorites. Up first is Life After Beth, sort of a reverse My Boyfriend's Back starring Aubrey Plaza and the legendary John C. Reilly. Zombie comedy has been absolutely done to death at this point, but I have to admit I check most of them out and I have a good time with them more often than not, so I'm looking forward to this one. This one will be out August 15th.

Up next is the tale of a real son of a bitch of a storm called Into The Storm from the director of Final Destination 5, which opens in theaters August 8th.

No poster for this one, but here's a new trailer for At The Devil's Door, formerly known as Home but changed because there are a ton of movies already called Home. This one hits VOD August 8th, and you'll be able to purchase it early September.

Renee Olstead takes on spooky rocking chairs, an ice...zombie (?) and some kind of nude goat man in The Midnight Game, coming from Anchor Bay August 12th.

New International 'Lucy' Trailer Is Insane

Good to see Morgan Freeman finally getting some work.

V/H/S Viral Trailer Promises Plenty of Scary Shit

The Cannes Sales Trailer for the third V/H/S film has hit the internets today. It'll be hard to top the second one - or more specifically Gareth Evans' incredible Safe Haven segment from the second one, but I've enjoyed the first two so I'm certainly down for this one. Check the trailer below:

Phantasm: RaVager Teaser Trailer!

Just a couple of days ago it was announced by Don Coscarelli that not only will there be a fifth Phantasm film, but that principal photography had already wrapped, so there technically already is a fifth Phantasm film.  Now today we already have a trailer, which you can find below.

I'm personally very excited about this, but I'm also finding myself a bit annoyed by how fans on the internet are reacting. We've been waiting years for a new Phantasm, and now that we finally get a new one - with Angus Scrimm, no less - instead of being excited I'm seeing a lot of fans (Phans?) allover the internet up in arms because Don passed directing duties on to his friend David Hartman, who he co-wrote the film with. Sure, we'd all prefer it if Don had directed it, but he didn't, and I've seen several people who are saying they refuse to watch a non-Don directed Phantasm. To me that seems like a dumb reason to immediately write a movie off. All I know is that Don had a hand in writing and producing it and it certainly seems like this Hartman guy did his homework, because this sure as hell looks and feels like a Phantasm film:

Zomboobies - The Breast Movie You'll See All Year

Here's the most ridiculous thing you're likely to see all week. From the cinematographer of the dating show Excused comes Zomboobies! It's kind of an American-made homage to the tits & zombies films that Japan has been cranking out for years. Think Big Tits Zombie 3-D, or Rape Zombie: Lust of the Dead, only with a white dude named Mike behind the camera. This isn't scheduled to come out until October, but here's a trailer:

The film is mostly done, but there is a Kickstarter out there if this looks like a movie you want to throw some money towards.

Amazing New Trailer For Soccer-Zombie Film Goal of the Dead

The two-part film centers around a French Olympic football team who visits a small village in Northern France to play a crucial game in the run-up to the World Cup. But as the Apocalypse looms, an epidemic quickly spreads and transforms the players, spectators and inhabitants into strange and enraged creatures.

Check out the trailer below. I think this might be the first time I've ever seen a zombie beaten with a pair of soccer cleats:

Zombie + Beaver = Zombeavers

You'd expect a movie to look pretty ridiculous and, yep, it looks ridiculous. I'm incredibly happy to see practical zombie beaver effects used in this. As goofy as they might be, it's refreshing to see creatures someone actually made in a movie like this.

“Zombeavers is an action-packed horror/comedy in which a group of college kids staying at a riverside cabin are menaced by a swarm of deadly zombie beavers. A weekend of sex and debauchery soon turns gruesome as the beavers close in on the kids. Riding the line between scary, sexy and funny, the kids are soon fighting for their lives in a desperate attempt to fend off the hoard of beavers that attack them in and around their cabin.

Heil Five! New Dead Snow 2 Trailer

Wow, I completely missed the fact that the trailer for Dead Snow 2 showed up online last night. I remember being a bit let down by the first Dead Snow, but this one looks like a lot of fun. Plus, Martin Starr looks to have a sizable role in this - I've been a fan of the guy since Freaks and Geeks (Bill Haverchuck was easily the best character on the show) so it's always good to see him in something other than little TV show bit parts.

Also starring New Jason (and Kickpuncher!) Derek Mears and everyone's favorite Jenna Haze-looking commercial actress Ingrid Haas.

The Quiet Ones - Coming From Hammer Studios April 25th

The official trailer for Hammer's latest film The Quiet Ones has made its way online today, and the film will make its way to theaters April 25th.

I know Hammer has produced a few movies since reforming (The Woman in Black, Let Me In, & Wake Wood), but I still get really excited seeing that Hammer logo in front of movies again. It's awesome.

Inspired by true events,The Quiet Ones tells the story of an unorthodox professor (Harris) who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying and evil than they ever could have imagined.

Random thought: The Quiet Ones could potentially be a great name for a Goth band.

Jarmuschian Vampires - Only Lovers Left Alive Trailer

Noted indie director Jim Jarmusch directs the vampire story Only Lovers Left Alive. Tom Hiddleston stars as Adam, a bloodsucker who makes a living as a reclusive musician. He reunites with the love of his life, Eve (Tilda Swinton) a fellow vampire who leaves her home overseas to be with him in the downtrodden Motor City. They eventually get a visit from Eve's irresponsible sister (Mia Wasikowska) who irritates Adam and eventually causes trouble with the one human - the vampires refer to the living as zombies -- with whom the depressed music hero gets along. Only Lovers Left Alive screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

I've been saying Tilda Swinton looks like a vampire since I first saw her in Tim Roth's The War Zone, good to see that I'm not the only one who thinks so. From the looks of this trailer, I think this has potential to be pretty great:

Woman Attacked By Murderous Chandelier - Dark Touch on DVD From IFC Jan. 28th

Own it January 28th. Sorry Blu-ray people, this one looks to be DVD only.

After a mysterious and bloody massacre in her isolated country house leaves her parents and younger brother dead, 11-year-old Neve (Missy Keating, The Sea) is taken by police to friends of the family to be looked after.

When Neve tries to explain that an evil force within the house caused the deaths, she's met with disbelief from both the authorities and her new family. But before long it becomes apparent that whatever killed her family has followed Neve to her new home, and soon she and all those around her are in mortal danger of some malevolent power that seems to be tied to the unfortunate girl.
The pulse-pounding DARK TOUCH skillfully blends elements of the paranormal thriller with the sadly more earthly horrors faced by the most innocent among us.

The IFC Midnight theatrical release, written and directed by Marina de Van (In My Skin), was an Official Selection at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival.

Christina Ricci is Lizzie Borden

Weird, a Lifetime movie I might actually watch.

“It’s not just a disturbing nursery rhyme! Now the true story of how Lizzie Borden murdered her parents (or did she?) in the summer of 1892 is being brought to Lifetime, with Christina Ricci as the eponymous Lizzie. The true-crime case captured national attention when it first happened, proving that Americans obsession with scandalous and sordid tales is nothing new.

First Godzilla Trailer Is Epic & Intense

A few "bootleg" copies appeared online earlier this year, but the first Godzilla teaser trailer was officially released by Warner Bros. today, and holy crap, this thing looks incredible. This is easily my most anticipated movie of 2014, May 16th can't come soon enough.

New Trailer For Nurse - In 3-D For No Apparent Reason

Looks like Douglas Aarniokoski's film Nurse 3D is finally set to come out February 7th of next year on VOD and will also receive a limited theatrical run.

This movie's release has been a long time coming, I read about it in Maxim the last time Katrina Bowden was on the cover, which was well over a year ago (the issue also mentioned "the upcoming Piranha 3DD", to give you some idea of how long ago that was). Glad to see it's finally coming out, I always liked Katrina on 30 Rock and she was one of the very few bright spots of Piranha 3DD. Check out the trailer below and try to figure out why this movie is in 3D,

And for no reason other than the fact that I like her face here's Katrina Bowden

Devil's Due Wins For Most Offensive Poster Of The Year

Bloody Disgusting posted a first look at a brand new International trailer for Devil's Due, and as you can see below, this is one sick and twisted poster.

It's completely disgusting and offensive, and I love it. Be sure to head out to check this one out in theaters January 17th. I'm guessing the poster featuring the bloody pregnant woman being crucified on an inverted cross will not be hanging up on any theater walls here in the US.

After a mysterious, lost night on their honeymoon, a newlywed couple finds themselves dealing with an earlier-than-planned pregnancy. While recording everything for posterity, the husband begins to notice odd behavior in his wife that they initially write off to nerves, but, as the months pass, it becomes evident that the dark changes to her body and mind have a much more sinister origin.

Mesmerizing New Trailer For The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears

Brand new trailer is up for Hélène Cattet, and Bruno Forzani's upcoming Giallo The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears, or for the French of you out there "L'étrange couleur des larmes de ton corps". The European theatrical release is scheduled for early next year, no news yet on a US release date.
