New This Week 8.26 - Doppelgängers and Post-Apocalyptic Ratmen

It sits here, shrouded in mist and mystery, a nesting place for living evil and terror from the dead. It’s Hell House. Roddy McDowall heads the cast of this exciting chiller about four psychic investigators and the dark, brooding mansion they call the Mt. Everest of haunted houses. It’s already destroyed one team of researchers. Now this brave quartet ventures in for another try at unraveling its secrets. But before they succeed, they must suffer through madness, murder and everything else that the spirits who dwell here have in store for them. Yet learning the truth just might drive them all insane. An ingeniously devised ghost story, The Legend Of Hell House will thrill and delight veteran horror fans from the first creaking door to the very last slithering shadow.

Jersey Shore thankfully went off the air nearly two years ago, so what better time for a movie called Jersey Shore Massacre to be released, right?

    The Situation Just Got Deadly.

Executive Producer Jenni JWoww Farley, of MTVs Snooki & JWoww and Jersey Shore, presents JERSEY SHORE MASSACRE, an award-winning, blood-drenched horror-comedy.

When Teresa and the girls leave their N.J. salon for a weekend of sun and sin down the shore, they re blindsided by bizarre events that send them from the sands of Seaside Heights to a secluded house deep in the N.J Pine Barrens. Frightened by stories of the legendary Jersey Devil, the local Piney's and a giant dim-witted neighbor, the girls return to Seaside and hook-up with five fist-pumpers. Later they converge at a Seaside bar where they re quickly ejected for a dance-floor brawl. With nowhere to go, the group retreats to the Pine Barrens for the night. Blinded by lust, they remain unaware that their long-standing debt to humanity is about to be settled - with their lives. One by one, the body count soars as retribution is exacted at the hands of a mentally-deranged killer with much more than just an axe to grind.

JERSEY SHORE MASSACRE stars Danielle Dallacco, Angelica Boccella, Giovanni Roselli (aka pro wrestler Romeo Roselli), Ron Jeremy, Sal Governale, Richard Christy and Bigfoot (from the Howard Stern Wack Pack), and was written & directed by Paul Tarnopol.

Blu-ray Special Features: Bigfoot Unmedicated, Italian Ice (Sal Governale) Music Video Melt, Behind The Scenes Of Jersey Shore Massacre, FAT CAMP MASSACRE PART 1 (featurette)

You're Not The Only One Who Wants Them Dead.

The second feature from director Richard Ayoade (Submarine, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace) is based on the Dostoyevsky novella of the same name.

Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite - confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.

In the new season, we see Rick and the group of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison only to have it short-lived as the group loses everything, their home, family, and friends to the threat of the walkers, outside threats and the hidden dangers brewing inside the fences. The group of survivors are broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else's fate as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested -- a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

Mattei's Hell of the Living Dead & Rats: Night of Terror Go Hi-Def

Two jaw-dropping Italian shockers coming in 2014 as a Double Feature Blu-ray from Blue Underground. No official release date is set, but I'd guess they will be out sometime next spring.

    HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD:

An accident at a chemical plant unleashes a horrific virus, and an elite SWAT team is sent to New Guinea to investigate. But when they arrive on the hellish island, they discover a plague of flesh-eating zombies as well as a beautiful female reporter who practices nude anthropology. Can the commandos survive this cannibal rampage, uncover a shocking government secret, and still find time for the occasional cross-dressing before the ravenous hordes of the living dead infect the entire world?

Directed by the notorious Bruno Mattei (THE OTHER HELL), this '80s Italian gut-muncher is infamous for its eye-popping gore, jaw-dropping dialogue and heart-stopping use of inappropriate stock footage. Also known as VIRUS, NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES and even ZOMBIE CREEPING FLESH, HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD has been newly transferred in shocking High Definition from the original uncut and uncensored negative!

    RATS: NIGHT OF TERROR:

In the year 225 A.B. (After the Bomb), a group of post-apocalyptic bikers discover an abandoned research laboratory filled with food, water... and thousands of rats. But these are no ordinary vermin; these are super-intelligent mutant rodents with a ravenous appetite for human flesh. Can a bunch of heavily armed but not-too-bright human scavengers survive a night of terror against the most hungry and horrific predators on earth?

Directed by the notorious Bruno Mattei (WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE), this hilarious Italian shocker is filled with over-the-top gore, bottom-of-the-barrel dialogue and attacks by what appear to be thousands of painted guinea pigs, all capped with a twist ending that must be seen to be believed. Also known as RATS OF MANHATTAN and BLOOD KILL, RATS: NIGHT OF TERROR has been newly transferred in flesh-ripping High Definition from the original uncut and uncensored negative!

    New This Week - 11.19.13

Tons of great titles out this week, here are a few I highly recommend picking up.

    Assault on Precinct 13
Isolated and cut off from the city inside a soon-to-be-closed L.A. police station, a group of police officers and convicts must join forces to defend themselves against the gang called Street Thunder, who have taken a blood oath to kill someone trapped inside the precinct.

From John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing and Prince Of Darkness), Assault On Precinct 13 combines the elements of a classic western and a modern thriller to create a riveting cult classic.

The A/V quality is pretty much on par with the earlier Blu-ray release, but in addition to a few features carried over from the previous release, Scream has also included a few very exciting brand new extras:

    • Audio Commentary with writer/director John Carpenter
    • NEW Audio Commentary with Art Director & Sound Effects Editor Tommy Lee Wallace
    • NEW interview with actress Nancy Loomis Kyes
    • NEW interview with actor Austin Stoker
    • Interview with John Carpenter and Austin Stoker
    • Theatrical Trailer
    • Radio Spots

    Eve of Destruction
She's beautiful, indestructible and unstoppable! Renee Soutendijk is "sexy and lethal" (Boxoffice) as Eve VIII, a sophisticated and deadly android run amok in this heart-pounding sci-fi thriller. Created in the image other inventor, Eve VIII is the flawless culmination of years of research. Or is she? When an unexpected mishap during testing sends her into a sudden, irreversible rampage, Eve begins stalking and killing anything she perceives as a threat. And now it's up to terrorism expert Jim McQuade (Gregory Hines) to find and deactivate her before she realizes her ultimate capability nuclear annihilation!

Recommended for fans of ultra-violent Terminator knock-offs like Lady Terminator or Hands of Steel. Not quite as fun as those two, though still a hell of a good time. In a rare move for Scream Factory, there are zero bonus features for this release, but even still this one is well worth a look.

It’s the first comet to buzz the planet in 65 million years, and everyone seems to be celebrating its imminent arrival. Everyone, that is, except Regina Belmont (Catherine Mary Stewart,  The Last Starfighter) and her younger sister Samantha (Kelli Maroney, Chopping Mall), two Valley Girls who care more about  fashion trends than the celestial phenomenon. But upon daybreak, when the girls discover that they’re the only residents of Los Angeles whom the comet hasn’t vaporized or turned into a zombie, they do what all good Valley Girls do…they go shopping! Maniac Cop 2 + Maniac Cop 3 On Blu-ray From Blue Underground

Coming soon to Blu-ray from Blue Underground are Maniac Cop 2 and 3.

"We are pleased to finally announce the Collector's Edition Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack releases of MANIAC COP 2 & MANIAC COP 3: BADGE OF SILENCE. Here's a look at the cover art. Additional details and release date will be revealed soon..."

I finally got around to seeing Maniac Cop a year or two ago and had a very "that's it?" reaction to it. Certainly not terrible, but I'd heard a lot of good things and it didn't live up to any of the hype. I've heard from people (or a guy on the HorrorDVDs forum at least) that Maniac Cop 2 is a lot of fun, so I'll probably check that one out when it gets released.

Blue Underground To Release Snuff in Hi-Def

Fangoria has just posted an exclusive look at Blue Underground's upcoming Snuff Blu-ray cover art. No release date set yet, but I'm loving the limited red case coupled with that cover art. I've never seen Snuff before because I've heard it's the worst, but I have to say the covers have me very interested.

The most interesting part about this news for me was hearing that Blue Underground is still a thing.
