Angus - Extended Motion Picture Soundtrack

This post marks the 800th post I've made on The Manchester Morgue. To celebrate this monumental achievement (of doing nothing special, really), here is an extended soundtrack from the 1995 film Angus. Angus was the film debut of both Charlie Talbert and James Van Der Beek. It was directed by Patrick Read Johnson (Spaced Invaders, Baby's Day Out) who most recently directed a movie called '77 that I have been dying to see for about 3 years now.

Like with most soundtracks, several songs that appeared in Angus were omitted for various reasons. So I've put together a semi-complete collection of the songs that appeared in the movie - complete with CD cover. Unfortunately, I couldn't seem to find 3 tracks, so these 3 tracks prevent this from being complete. If anyone has them, please let me know:
  • Squeeze Box! - Interstate Polka (did you know The Who has a song called Squeeze Box?)
  • George Sandeur - Blue Way
  • Sun 60 - Each and Every (the name Sun 60 is almost impossible to search for)
Since I went through and found all of these from various sources the quality ranges from 128 to 320, but everything sounds fine. I've also ripped the version of Love Spit Love's Am I Wrong from the DVD that has a marching band playing along to the song. There is some background noise and maybe a bit of dialog, but I think the marching band sounds pretty cool so I wanted to include it on here.

  1. Green Day - J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)
  2. Ash - Jack Names The Planets
  3. Dance Hall Crashers - Enough
  4. Ash - Kung Fu
  5. Riverdales - Back To You
  6. Smoking Popes - Mrs. You and Me
  7. Weezer - You Gave Your Love To Me Softly
  8. The Goo Goo Dolls -Ain't That Unusual
  9. The Muffs - Funny Face
  10. Tilt - White Homes
  11. Pansy Division - Deep Water
  12. Love Spit Love - Am I Wrong
  13. Love Spit Love - Am I Wrong (Marching Band Version)
  14. Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
  15. Smoking Popes - Rubella
  16. Peter Gabriel - Washing Of The Water
  17. Squeeze - If I Didn't Love You
  18. Buster Poindexter - Hot, Hot, Hot

Was Angus released on DVD?

Yeah, Warner released it as one of their "Arhive" releases recently.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't familiar with that WB program. How is the quality?

It's pretty good quality. They say that it's not remastered on the site, but it's better than a VHS transfer. The problem with the Warner Archives releases are they ask $20 (+ shipping) for an average transfer with no extras and unattractive cover art - small movie photo, big ass blue border.

Still, if they weren't going to release it (or the other titles in the line) properly, this is better than nothing.

i'll have to check, but im pretty sure my cd version of the soundtrack has the marching band version of "am i wrong" on it. it's definitely a different version than the one included. i'll send it your way.

here's both the marching band version of "am i wrong" from the cd and "you gave your love to me softly" from weezer, the angus version, which is different from the el scorcho version included, enjoy!

Cool man, thanks for sharing. I had downloaded the full soundtrack somewhere, but all the tracks were poor quality wma files. So once I started tracking the missing tracks down I decided to grab better quality versions of all the tracks, not realizing a couple of them were different versions.

Thanks for clearing that up, and for sharing the proper tracks!

I actually have CDs by the band Sun60. Can't give you any info off the top of my head but I remember liking them a lot when I was 20 years younger.
