Get a look at Scream Factory's cover art for the upcoming Vincent Price Collection Volume II, due out October 21st. Should look nice lined up next to Volume I.
Once
again, titles in "Volume II" set include The Last Man on Earth, The
Comedy of Terrors, Dr. Phibes Rises Again, Tomb of Ligeia, The Raven,
Return of the Fly and the William Castle favorite The House on Haunted
Hill.

Trailer Roundup - Life After Beth, Into The Storm, At The Devil's Door & The Midnight Game
Tons of new trailers have come out today so I've rounded up some of my favorites. Up first is Life After Beth, sort of a reverse My Boyfriend's Back starring Aubrey Plaza and the legendary John C. Reilly. Zombie comedy has been absolutely done to death at this point, but I have to admit I check most of them out and I have a good time with them more often than not, so I'm looking forward to this one. This one will be out August 15th.
Up next is the tale of a real son of a bitch of a storm called Into The Storm from the director of Final Destination 5, which opens in theaters August 8th.
No poster for this one, but here's a new trailer for At The Devil's Door, formerly known as Home but changed because there are a ton of movies already called Home. This one hits VOD August 8th, and you'll be able to purchase it early September.
Renee Olstead takes on spooky rocking chairs, an ice...zombie (?) and some kind of nude goat man in The Midnight Game, coming from Anchor Bay August 12th.

Bleeding Skull Video's 'Cards of Death' Available Now
Bleeding Skull Video's first release, the ultra obscure 1986 film Cards of Death is now available exclusively on VHS over at Mondo Tees. I'm sure this is a very limited release, though I can't seem to find the actual quantity it's limited to, so those of you interested should snatch up a copy now.
Shadows stalk the night. Some belong to desperate men in hobo masks; others to switchblade-wielding new wave dominatrixes. But they’re all cast against the urine-soaked asphalt by the throbbing pulse of sex-colored neon and remorseless gunfire. Welcome to hatred, pain, suicide, misanthropy and inescapable hopelessness. Welcome to swastika cummerbunds, barbed wire strangulations and gambling-addicted priests impaled on wrought-iron fences. The apocalypse has a name. And it’s Cards Of Death.
Written and directed in 1986 by Hollywood veteran W.G. MacMillan (who appeared in the Dirty Harry sequel The Enforcer), this shot-on-video scuzz-sex-slice-and-dicer has long been described as the “holy grail of slasher movies,” mostly for its sheer rarity among VHS collectors. Though it was an American production, Cards Of Death was briefly released on VHS exclusively in Japan before disappearing completely, without even a listing on IMDB. The BLEEDING SKULL! VIDEO release of Cards Of Death marks the first release of the movie on home video in the United States.
Directed by W.G. MacMillan
90 minutes / 1986 / Color
Includes MINIMUM UNDERDRIVE #1, an exclusive ‘zine on Cards Of Death.
I haven't seen this one yet, but here is a review from Bleeding Skull posted several months ago. And one from A Slash Above. I'd post more review links but I honestly don't know that more than a couple dozen people even seen this thing before, it's that rare.
I'd love to see a future DVD release, though I doubt that will happen. I personally don't really collect VHS - sure I've got a few dozen tapes, which I guess counts as a collection, but I'm not really into dropping more than a few bucks for a tape because I'm so paranoid that my VCR is going to crap out halfway through a movie and ruin the tape. If that were to happen to one I paid more than a few dollars for I'd shit.

People
come from far and wide to sample Farmer Vincent's distinctively
flavored dried, smoked sausages, but one might well ask why there are so
few people staying at the nearby kitschy Motel Hello. Also, have you
ever wondered about the secret ingredients that make
his meats taste so darn good? The ‘80s cult classic horror-comedy film
MOTEL HELL, directed by Kevin Connor (At The Earth's Core,
The House Where Evil Dwells) takes on a frighteningly funny look
into the different kinds of critters that make up Farmer Vincent's
fritters with plenty of surprises.

Pre-order now at:
A film by Kevin Connor, this crazy chiller stars Rory Calhoun (Angel), Paul Linke (CHiPS), Nancy Parsons (Porky's), Nina Axelrod (Cobra),
and legendary DJ Wolfman Jack. While many of its contemporaries were literally trying to scare the wits out of people,
MOTEL HELL balanced horror with humor, making audiences cringe
and laugh at its lurid tale. A modest success upon its theatrical
release, video rentals and cable showings have kept it alive and
solidified its slasher status. Its creepy chainsaw battle
still excites today.
Farmer
Vincent Smith (Rory Calhoun) and his sister Ida (Nancy Parsons) run the
respectable Motel Hello where they also produce and sell popular meat
products.
But the wonderful flavor that makes up Vincent's locally legendary
smoked meats has a special ingredient. Their secret garden is filled
with "animals" that they ambush, capture, and raise buried in the earth.
But when the seemingly kindly couple, who gleefully
dispatch their victims with aplomb, take in and care for a young woman
(Nina Axelrod) who survived a motorcycle accident, she creates a rivalry
between Vincent and his unsuspecting, slow-witted sheriff brother (Paul
Linke) for her affection. Will the sibling
squabble unravel Vincent and Ida's undercover enterprise?

You Gonna Be Da Worm Face! Squirm Coming Soon From Scream
Scream has announced that Jeff Lieberman's Squrim will be hitting Blu-ray for the first time in the US this October. This is great news for fans who weren't able to pick up Arrow's Region B disc.
I think I mentioned this when the Arrow release came out, but I'm not much of a fan of this one. I am excited about this release though, because if they have the rights to Squirm, one would have to assume they will surely be able to release the Mystery Science Theater episode, which is one of my all-time favorite episodes.
The worms crawl in and out this October when we release the 1976 nature-gone-berserk classic SQUIRM to Blu-ray for the first time in U.S. and Canada!
No details on extras yet but this will be in our “Collector’s Edition” series and new artwork will be revealed soon. Expect exact street date and pre-order links to go up sometime next month.

Bleeding Skull! Launches Bleeding Skull! Video Label
Here's some rather exciting and interesting news I just came across over at Bleeding Skull:
"With the help of our friends at MONDO, the art boutique of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, we’ve launched BLEEDING SKULL! VIDEO. Specializing in ultra-obscure, no-budget horror and exploitation movies from the 1980s and early 1990s, BLEEDING SKULL! VIDEO is a VHS and digital streaming label that is dedicated to sharing unreleased (or barely released) movies with the world. Our inaugural title is Cards Of Death. Cards Of Death will be available June 24, 2014 on VHS.
Over the past fifteen years, we’ve been obsessed with discovering, collecting, and reviewing the world’s rarest exploitation films. After discovering an unreleased 1980s horror movie by one of our favorite filmmakers in the trunk of a used car, we knew that something had to be done. With Mondo’s help, we’re devoted to preserving and sharing these discoveries on the format that they were originally meant to be seen.
Each BLEEDING SKULL VIDEO! VHS title is authentically packaged to represent its respective era, from classy big boxes to photocopied clamshell cases. Every release also includes an issue of MINIMUM UNDERDRIVE, an in-depth ‘zine that features interviews, rare photos, and artwork specific to each movie. We’ll be releasing approximately four titles a year for the rest of forever. All of our releases will be available online at: BLEEDINGSKULLVIDEO.COM and MONDOTEES.COM.
PREPARE FOR FUN! NEVER DIE!"
Bleeding Skull has been one of my favorite review sites for years now, so I'll definitely be supporting Bleeding Skull! Video when Cards of Death comes out next week.

Vinegar Syndrome Offers Free 720p Download of Silent Night, Bloody Night
Vinegar Syndrome has just updated their Gratis section with a free 720p download of Sugar Cookies director Theodore Gershuny's 1972 film Silent Night, Blood Night. Head on over to this link to download the file. The file is pretty huge, nearly 4GBs, so it may take a while to download depending on your connection. My internet crapped out the first time (and, as of this sentence, the second time) I tried to download the file so I haven't had a chance to check the quality, but the few screenshots on the site look great, much better than I've ever seen the film look.
Years after the mysterious death of Wilfred Butler, the head of a mental asylum, his grandson decides to sell the old asylum building. Despite warnings from the townspeople, the sale proceeds. Soon, however, a serial killer escapes from a nearby institution and begins murdering people connected to the house. What do these new killings have in common with the acts of violence at the house in years past, and what really happened to Wilfred Butler…
Year of Production: 1972
Director: Theodore Gershuny
Actors: Mary Woronov, Patrick O’Neal, James Patterson…
85 minutes / Color / AR: 1.85:1
This 720p mp4 file is DRM-free and playable on most all computers, mobile devices, smart TVs and streaming media platforms such as Roku, Boxee, Chromecast and Apple TV. Download by clicking on the link above.

Musical Slasher Stage Fright Hits Blu-ray July 8th!
July 8th will see the Blu-ray release of Jerome Sable's musical slasher Stage Fright. Not to be confused with Michele Saovi's absolutely insane 1987 slasher debut (which I read is supposed to be out this year at some point as well).
I kind of hate most movies that can be described as musicals, because I really don't like the kind of music generally associated with musicals, but I'm interested in this one and I'll tell you why. Meat Loaf. I'm not much of a fan of Mr. Loaf's music, but I do really like Meat as an actor; Roadie, Rocky Horror, Wayne's World, Fight Club, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, all highly entertaining movies, made all the more highly entertaining-er with an appearance by Meat Loaf.
STAGE FRIGHT is about a starry-eyed teenager Camilla Swanson who aspires to follow in the footsteps of her Broadway diva mother. Instead she's stuck working in the kitchen of a snobby performing arts camp. Determined to change her destiny, she sneaks in to audition for the summer showcase and lands a lead role in the play, but just as rehearsals begin, blood starts to spill, and Camilla soon finds herself terrified by the horror of musical theater.
STAGE FRIGHT stars Allie MacDonald, Douglas Smith, Brandon Uranowitz, Kent Nolan, Melanie Leishman, Minnie Driver, and Meat Loaf.
Bonus Features:
Audio Commentary
The Making Of Stage Fright
Outtakes
Deleted Scenes
Interviews: Writer/Director Jerome Sable
Co-Composer Eli Batalion
AXS TV: A Look at Stage Fright
“The Legend Of Beaver Dam”

Hammer's The Quiet Ones On Blu-ray August 19th
Hammer's latest The Quiet Ones kind of came and went it seems, but luckily those of you, like me, who missed out on this one will be able to check it out on Digital HD August 5th, and it'll be available to purchase on Blu-ray and DVD August 19th. Take a look at the unfortunately uninspired cover below.
When a crazed university professor (Harris) and his team of students set out to cure a disturbed patient, the unthinkable happens. Trusting in their leader and his motives, Brian (Claflin) and his fellow students find themselves far from help...and all too close to a sinister force they never suspected.
Blu-ray special features include:
· "Welcome to the Experiment: Making The Quiet Ones" Documentary
· "Manifesting Evil: Visual Effects" Featurette
· Audio Commentary with Director John Pogue & Producer Tobin Armbrust
· Deleted Scenes
· Gag Reel
I hate to be one of those guys who bitches about a movie cover, but really, why not use the poster below? It's beautiful and classy, the cover they've chosen looks like any number of low rent turds you find 20 pages deep while browsing Netflix's horror selection, the kind you skip past without even reading the title.

Porn Actress Homicide & Flesheating Mattresses - New This Week 6.3
Vinegar Syndrome's long-awaited Sugar Cookies blu-ray is finally out today. Those of you non-Troma fans out there, don't let Lloyd Kaufman's involvement scare you off, this is damn good stuff. It's a great, tragic story with some gorgeous cinematography and fine performances from Woronov and Lowry. Vinegar Syndrome has done a remarkable job on the 4K transfer on this one - those of you who've seen the old Troma disc will be pretty stunned when you pop this blu-ray disc in. With beautiful cover art, a great transfer and some very entertaining interviews, this is one of the best VS releases of the year.
Lynn Lowry (Shivers, The Crazies, Score) and Mary Woronov (Death Race 2000, Eating Raoul) star in one of the most unique psychological thrillers of the 70s, Theodore Gershuny’s SUGAR COOKIES.
After the mysterious death of erotic film actress Alta (Lynn Lowry) while in the company of sleazy sex-film producer Max (George Shannon), her manipulative agent Camilla (Mary Woronov) begins searching for a ‘perfect replacement.’ After discovering a young, aspiring actress, Julie (also Lynn Lowry), Camilla and Max slowly groom her into a mirror image of Alta, but as Julie begins to become more aware of the sinister motives of her new caretakers, she also starts fearing for her own life.
Written and produced by Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger), SUGAR COOKIES is a blisteringly erotic Hitchcockian thriller from New York’s outrageous underground film scene. Featuring Andy Warhol regular Ondine and Monique van Vooren (Flesh For Frankenstein), as well as an early appearance from sexploitation superstar Jennifer Welles, Vinegar Syndrome is proud to present this forgotten gem of early 70’s exploitation cinema newly restored in 4K from its original camera negative and on blu-ray for the very first time.

Scream Factory's "Summer of Fear" continues with their release of Antonia Bird's wonderfully dark horror comedy Ravenous. This is a great movie that I highly recommend if you haven't seen it before. Sadly, the transfer Scream was given for this release is pretty lacking, so don't expect the usual high quality A/V standards on this release, but it's still such an entertaining film I say it's still worth picking up, though I might recommend waiting for a sale, or coupon for this one.
