I don't want no chicks with zits, I want fine chicks!

Here is the Unofficial Soundtrack to The Stoned Age. The Stoned Age is one of several movies out there that just doesn't have an actual soundtrack album. A bit odd I think, given that they probably spent a good deal of the movie's budget securing the rights to the songs featured in the movie. Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple tracks can't be cheap. Anyway, I've thrown together this soundtrack featuring all the songs featured in the movie that I was able to find.

The Stoned Age was the beginning of James Melkonian's directorial career, a career that was pretty much ended the following year with The Jerky Boys. It's often referred to as a lower budget, poorer version of Dazed and Confused, but aside from being set in the 70's and taking place during the span of one day, I don't think it's really all that similar. A little at times, sure, but not a ripoff as I've heard it called before. Dazed has a few rather dramatic scenes, The Stoned Age is pretty much a straight raunchy comedy. I like both films, Dazed a bit more, but you gotta respect The Stoned Age at least a bit. After all, it does feature the best "pissing in the ice tray" scene ever filmed.

One line in the movie bothered me a bit. When asked to describe how the movie's "fine chick" looks, a character says she looks "just like that chick from the Virgin Killer album". This is an odd statement being that the "chick from the Virgin Killer album" was a naked prepubescent girl. Now either the writer never actually saw the album cover and made a mistake, or he is a complete and total pervert.

Now for some random information that I'm too lazy to string together into a proper paragraph:

Renee Griffin, who plays the hot and frequently naked or half naked Lanie is the wife of James Marshall who played James Hurley on 24 episodes of Twin Peaks. Frankie Avalon makes a brief appearance as Frankie Avalon at the end of the movie. Also look out for Jake "The Teeth" Busey in a brief appearance at a party, doing his spot-on weird looking asshole impression. And, if you stay for the credits, a couple members of Joe and Hubb's beloved BOC show up selling bootleg T-Shirts from their very own band. That's awesome if you ask me.

Sadly, I couldn't find everything listed on the IMDB page for the movie, but I did get most of them. Some of them just don't seem to exist anywhere. Also I wanted to thank Vinnie at Vinnie Rattolle's Rare Records, I grabbed the Cat Scratch Fever track from him a while back in his expanded Detroit Rock City soundtrack.

1. Stoned Age Text Crawl
2. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
3. Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
4. Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear (The Reaper)
5. Blue Oyster Cult - Burnin' For You
6. Foghat - Slow Ride
7. Foghat - Drivin' Wheel
8. Montrose - Rock Candy
9. The Trammps - Disco Inferno
10. KC And The Sunshine Band - I Like To Do It
11. BT Express - Do It (Till You're Satisfied)
12. Focus - Hocus Pocus
13. T-Rex - Bang A Gong (Get It On)
14. Led Zeppelin - In The Light
15. Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music
16. Deep Purple - Highway Star
17. Richard Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra

I'd kick his ass if it wasn't for his massive upper body strength.
