One of my favorite films of the year (so far) comes out on DVD today here in the US. While there has been a good deal of critical acclaim for Hot Fuzz I'm not sure how the regular American movie-goer feels. I heard one person I kind of know say it "wasn't funny at all, not even a little" and my friend I watched it with didn't seem to be too into it, but screw those guys, I absolutely love this movie. I've seen it 3 times already and I am pretty certain a 4th viewing is in order tonight. Definitely check it out if you haven't.
Anyway, the reason I'm mentioning this rather obvious news is give people a heads up on the Wal-Mart exclusive bonus disc. Unlike most "exclusive bonus discs", this one is actually very much worth picking up, with three hours of material. The Region 2 DVD released last month was loaded with material spread over 2-discs, but when they announced the Region 1 release they mentioned it would be missing several of those features. Now, Wal-Mart is evil, and I wouldn't normally suggest anyone go near one, but this is the only non-HD way to get a lot of the extras (maybe all of them, I'm not 100% sure) from the R2 set without having to pay a lot to get that one shipped over here. So if you enjoy special features I'd pick this one up. Plus, as you can see, the extra disc has a great image of Nicholas and Danny firing two guns whilst jumping through the air, that's gotta be worth something.
Alright, I suppose that's enough celebrity death and DVD news for now. I will most likely have some music up later on this evening, so be sure to check back.

Sorry for the quality on the images here. I had to reduce the quality since the files were huge.
Hot Fuzz was a disappointment in my book. I was quite fond of Shaun of the Dead but HF didn't do it for me. Somehow a cockney zombie movie seems more believable than a rural-England-meets-Hollywood action flick. If you're a Simon Pegg fan check out Spaced.
Sadly it looks as if the Region 1 disc will only have one of the four commentaries from the British disc.
Just wait they will do the super duper special limited edition double dip in a year or so. Ugh!

damn every wal-mart in my area only stocks the two pack with the full-screen edition. what a waste.
Yeah, Widescreen seems to be rather difficult to find from what I'm hearing. The regular non-exclusive DVD in the set is sealed so a lot of people are buying the fullscreen set, going back later and just returning the DVD for the widescreen version.
I lucked out, when I got to the store they only had fullscreen on the shelf and just as I turned to leave a guy pushed a huge Hot Fuzz display with a hundred copies right by me.
i was thinking about doing the same thing... that would work because wal-mart stocks the two disc set under the same number as the regular disc...
Thanks for the heads up on this man. I tend to ignore those Wal-Mart 2-packs as they're usually just fluff, but this is awesome.
Importing the region 2 here in Canada cost me about $5 more than buying the region 1 would. And I got the movie two months earlier.
And, as someone pointed out, you're still missing *3* commentaries.
It's criminal what they did to the R1 release.
