Fangs of the Living Dead Gets Rifftraxed

Rifftrax has just released a their latest Video Demand and it should be pretty great; Armando de Ossorio's Fangs of the Living Dead, which has become a staple of low budget public domain DVD box sets.

I don't now about the rest of you but I've really been enjoying these Rifftrax Video On Demand releases. I loved MST3K because the writing and performing was hilarious first and foremost, but I also loved it because I love crappy movies. When Rifftrax started pretty much exclusively riffing "real" movies like Twilight and Harry Potter (yawn) they kind of lost my interest. But now that they're doing stuff like this, Kingdom of the Spiders and When a Stranger Calls Back I'm fully back on board.

Hell Baby - Get Possessed By This Horrifically Comedic Trailer

Enjoy this official trailer for Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon's latest film Hell Baby, a kinda sorta horror comedy with Rob "Lougle" Courdry and Leslie "Ricky Bobby's wife" Bibb.

An expectant couple who moves into the most haunted house in New Orleans call upon the services of the Vatican's elite exorcism team to save them from a demonic baby.

I'm looking forward to this one, I've always enjoyed Garant and Lennon's work on The State and Reno 911!. I even liked Viva Variety which I believe nobody watched, so I'm a fan of these two. Trailer looks pretty funny, though I can imagine the accents they're doing might get annoying after a while.

The Lords Are Coming From Anchor Bay September 3rd

Lords of Salem, the latest (and allegedly final) film from the internet's favorite Horror director will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD September 3rd from Anchor Bay. News ganked directly from Blu-ray.com. No cover art has been announced so for now, enjoy this poster featuring a skull with Hitler haircut (am I the only one seeing Hitler when they look at this skull?).

Heidi, a radio DJ, is sent a box containing a record -- a "gift from the Lords." The sounds within the grooves trigger flashbacks of her town's violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the Lords back to take revenge on Salem, Massachusetts?

The horror fans of the internet really do seem to hate Zombie, while I'm not a huge fan of his work I personally find it hard to actually hate the guy. I say can anyone who is regularly employing Ken Foree and Sid Haig really be all that bad?

Arrow Presents Exit Starring Hannibal's Mads Mikkelsen

UK DVD RELEASE: MONDAY 8th JULY 2013

Arrow Films is pleased to announce the UK DVD debut of EXIT, an action-packed Scandinavian thriller starring Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, The Hunt, Hannibal) and Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood).

Directed by Peter Lindmark, EXIT is a tense and exhilarating Swedish thriller surrounding Thomas Skepphult (Mads Mikkelsen), a wealthy investor at the peak of his career.

On the cusp of securing one of his biggest and most lucrative deals, which will see he and his fellow partner sell their stake in a rival firm, Thomas seems to have it all – a beautiful wife, Anna (Kirsty Torhaug), a lovely daughter, Ebba (Johanna Dickson), an expensive villa by the water and a financially secured future.
Just before the deal is to complete, Thomas’ partner and mentor William is found brutally murdered, and Thomas is named as the prime suspect. Due to the financial incentive, and a harrowing link to the murder weapon, Thomas must embark on a desperate campaign to protest his innocence and protect his family, eliciting the help of two closely trusted allies.

Thomas learns that when things go sour in the upper echelons of the corporate world, and a way out is not for sale, the wealthy and powerful must summon the same raw survival instincts as the common man.
Reminiscent of films like The Fugitive, EXIT is a gripping action thriller brimming with surprising twists and turns. Notably strong performances include Alexander Skarsgård as Fabian von Klerking, Thomas’s faithful associate; and Samuel Fröler as the psychotic and menacing villain, Morgan Nordenstråle.

Mads Mikkelsen once again combines high drama and action convincingly, proving his worth as arguably the best Nordic actor of a generation. Stylish Swedish production and excellent performances make EXIT a must-see for UK Scandi-philes looking for their next fix!

The massive UK success of subtitled television dramas such as The Killing and Wallander paved the way for many more top Nordic shows and feature films to find an emphatic audience in the UK.

Deep Discount's 13% Off Code - Expires 6/27

Deep Discount's 25% Off Sale took place earlier this month, but their practice of only including select titles in the sale usually makes that sale kind of a bust. Today they've put out a coupon code "DEEP13" that takes 13% off your order. Code expires 6/27 at Midnight.

Sure, it's nowhere near as good as 25%, but the 13% does seem to actually work for most of what is on the site so you have a lot more choices with this new code. It's a way to grab a lot of the Scream Factory titles for about $15, which is the cheapest I've seen new copies go for. Tons of other decent deals, these are just some that stood out for me given how rarely they are on sale.

Todd is torn between his horny needs and his dark destiny; Jenny discovers the reason behind her Dad s disappearance; Curtis ex-girlfriend returns to throw the Gang in turmoil; and Hannah discovers a secret so disturbing that it threatens her own identity. Also, possibly coming out today is Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead from director Noboru Iguchi. It's listed as releasing today on Amazon, but then it is coming from Tokyo Shock, so really, who the hell knows? If it does get released for sure expect a lot of Iguchi's patented mix of poop jokes and weirdo gore.

Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her sister, who was tormented by high school bullies, young karate student Megumi accompanies a group of friends on a trip into the woods. Attacked by a crowd of poop-covered undead who emerge from an outhouse toilet, the group seeks refuge in the home of the strange Dr. Tanaka, who conducts experiments on the zombies ... and who has another fate in mind for the five strangers. Can Megumi s karate help them escape, or will she have to rely on the liberating power of farts to save the day?

Foxy Brown (Region B, Arrow Video)

From Arrow is the Blu-ray debut of one of Jack Hill's most popular films Foxy Brown, available in a standard edition, or the extra sexy Steelbook version.

When Foxy Brown s undercover-agent boyfriend is gunned down on the orders of evil drug kingpins, she stops at nothing to exact a thrillingly brutal revenge. This is one of the all-time great blaxploitation films, pulling out all the stops at a time long before anyone thought of inventing political correctness.

Pam Grier was given the role of a lifetime as the street-smart yet intensely sexy Foxy, modelling a stupendously varied range of Seventies threads while righteously kicking villainous white butt at every opportunity. She s also given sterling support from Antonio Huggy Bear Fargas as her no-good younger brother and a memorably funky soundtrack.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

  • Limited Edition SteelBook packaging with exclusive artwork

  • Original Theatrical Trailer
  • Trailer Reel Trailers for all the major works by Jack Hill including Foxy Brown, Coffy and Switchblade Sisters

I don't normally mention music releases here, I feel compelled to mention today's release of Deceiver of the Gods by one of my personal favorite bands Amon Amarth. I haven't heard the album yet, but they're one of the most consistent bands in all of metal, I buy all their albums the second the preorder goes up because I know Amon Amarth never disappoints. The Deluxe Edition CD+EP is only $12 right now, so buy it up.

The Bigfoot Witch Project - Bobcat Goldthwait's Willow Creek Trailer

First trailer for 80's comedian Bobcat Goldthwait's upcoming Bigfoot film Willow Creek. The film will be playing at the Fantasia Film Festival, here's hoping those of us not going to Fantasia will have a chance to see it soon:

Jim and  his girlfriend Kelly are in Willow Creek, California, to retrace the  steps of Bigfoot researchers Patterson and Gimlin, who, in 1967,  recorded the most famous film of the legendary monster. Kelly is a  skeptic, along for the ride to spend time with her boyfriend between  acting gigs. Jim, a believer, hopes to capture footage of his own, so  his camera is constantly rolling.

The small town is a mecca to the Bigfoot community; sasquatch statues  guard the local businesses, murals of the missing link line the roads,  and Bigfoot burgers are the town delicacy. The couple interview locals  who range from skeptic to believer and from manic to completely  menacing. Some of the stories they hear are of chance encounters with a  gentle creature, while others are tales of mysterious eviscerations.

On the day that Jim and Kelly plan on hiking into the woods to look  for proof, they are given a simple warning: “It’s not a joke. You  shouldn’t go there.” Despite the ominous message and Kelly’s own  reservations, they head deep into the forest to set up camp. The events  that follow will make them wish they had simply spent the night at the  Bigfoot Motel.

SCHOOLGIRL REPORT Vol. 10:
"Every Girl Starts Sometime…"

LET THE LESSONS BEGIN!

Schoolgirl 10SCHOOLGIRL REPORT VOL. 10: Every Girl Starts Sometime makes learning fun!
A classroom discussion about “legislation and morals” leads to some all-new sexy stories with the popular SCHOOLGIRL REPORT cuties. This all-new volume of the popular German erotic series will have you laughing in your seat and unable to stand up (if you know what we mean).

A high school teacher is accused of assaulting the young Susanne while personally tutoring her, but the truth is much crazier than fiction in this pants-swelling tale. Inga is very shy about sex, but loves to only touch herself.  Little does she know, as she begins her search for the ultimate encounter, that she’ll end up in a room full of horny men with plans all their own!  In the third story, a pool party turns into an illicit affair for one boy who, on a dare, tries to seduce his girlfriend’s mother... but the secretive girlfriend has a shocking hidden agenda.  In what may be the craziest story yet in a SCHOOLGIRL REPORT film, a young couple fool a family by staging an entire “Exorcist” scenario to have sex, with the boyfriend being the religious savior and the girl as the “demonically possessed” innocent!  And in the final story, a young schoolgirl becomes the mistress of a much older man but, when his wife finds out, all hell breaks loose.

Just discovered this listing on Amazon. No specs or features have been announced yet, but I'll keep you informed when that info is released.

Drive-In Ads of the 1970s: Part 1

The other day while checking out the DVDManiacs/AVManiacs forum I came across a post from a guy who shared hundreds of newspaper ads from the 70's from the Owensboro, Ky area. Quite an assortment of horror, exploitation and kung fu - and with permission from the DVD Maniac who posted them, I've decided these were too cool not to share.

In this first installment be on the lookout for Mall Zombies, a sinister double feature made in Hell, an unholy army of vicious rats, human cat food, and an Italian vampire dog who wears a fucking cape.

NECA's Gargantuan Mohawk-Spider Gremlin Figure

One of the most terrifying creatures of my childhood has manifested itself in action figure form. The Mohawk/Spider Gremlin who Rambo Gizmo defeats with a paper clip bow and flaming pencil arrow will be available to preorder starting next week.

NECA announces that their most massive Gremlin action figure ever produced is finally headed your way this Fall. When fully assembled the Spider Gremlin stands over 10" tall and is nearly 15" across and over 12" deep.  An incredible re-creation of the puppet seen in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, the Spider Gremlin features a hinged jaw, ball jointed shoulders, elbows, and wrists and 8 massive spider legs that are also articulated in 3 places each. In total over 30 points of articulation.

Also includes a support stand to help balance and display him in your desired poses.  This figure is sure to be the centerpiece for every Gremlins collection. Pre-orders start next week with an SRP of around $50.

Zavvi Exclusive Beyond Steelbook From Arrow October 21st

On their Facebook page Arrow has announced a limited edition steelbook of Lucio Fulci's The Beyond, available exclusively at Zavvi. This appears to just be a repackaging of the earlier Arrow release, though I'm assuming this will come with the corrected sepia version of the film's opening.

Every Other Day is Halloween - The Spooky Story of Gore De Vol

While checking out the BRINKvision site after posting about Cannibal Diner I came across this amazing documentary about Horror Host Gore De Vol, now available for purchase. Sadly there wasn't one of these local horror host shows where I grew up, though I did watch a lot of SCTV in my youth, I guess Count Floyd was my Gore De Vol.

Every Other Day is Halloween is an amazing and funny true life story of television personality Dick Dyszel, whose popular television characters, "Count Gore De Vol" and "Captain 20," continue to inspire generations of fans and artists. Featuring rare, never before seen footage, along with interviews with writers like Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), filmmakers such as Jeff Krulik (Heavy Metal Parking Lot), as well a new generation of horror hosts John Dimes ("Dr. Sarcofiguy") and Jerry Moore II ("Karlos Borloff"). Dick Dyszel's career and impact shows how art can sometimes come back to re-influence itself, and how the best days will always be ahead.

"Ghoulish Film Fun!" -The Washington Post "Brilliant!" -Sci-Fi Channel UK "Brilliant and Inspiring Documentary" -BadLit.com "Explore the fun times of a bygone era while proving that even when we're reminiscing about the good old days, the best times are often yet to come." -Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide "A nostalgic ode that makes you wish you had your own Gore De Vol on your TV." -BadLit.com

Prepare To Be Eaten At Cannibal Diner

Here's another upcoming film that mixes beautiful large breasted women and cannibalism. Alhough where Compulsion is a Thriller, Cannibal Diner is a full-on gore soaked horror film.

"Kati (Lesch) is a young model on her way to a birthday party for her little sister, Celine (Baum). Tanja (Rohder), Kati's best friend, and some of the others want to celebrate and camp near the woods. While preparing the party, the girls get attacked by strangers. Kati, still on her way to the camping place, loses her way in the woods and is led onto the wrong track by a vagabond (Klauss). When her car is stolen afterwards, Kati finds herself lost in the deep forest and arrives at an old factory, where a clan of cannibals is already preparing their feast... main course: Kati's friends."

The title had me briefly excited that it was a remake of Blood Diner, sadly I'm not seeing a pair of goofball idiot brothers, or a diner. In fact, from the trailer I'm not seeing any kind of eating establishment whatsoever. Still, it does look like a hell of a good time at the movies and we'll be able to check out the DVD release October 15th from BRINKvision.
